RUMOUR - Roman Kienast

by Tilehurst End » 04 Jul 2008 09:35

A source close to Reading has revealed that Reading have held 'talks' with representatives of Roman Kienast who currently earns his trade in the Norweigan league.

Kienast who played in Euro 2008 for Austria is seen as a replacement for the outbound Kitson who is linked with both Fulham & Wigan.

Kienast, who came on as a sub against Germany is highly regarded as a young prospect in Austria and hails from a footballing family. His uncle Reinhard had scored twice the last time Austria beat Germany, in a 1986 friendly.

Just before the start of the 2006 season, Kienast came to the Norwegian club Hamarkameratene (Ham-Kam) on loan.

In the next season, Ham-Kam got promoted back to the Norwegian Premier League, with Kienast playing an integral part in the campaign by scoring 14 goals[2].

The discussions are thought to be at an early stage and it is thought that the deal would only go ahead should Kitson leave.

The deal may founder if the club can't find this guy a house with a cellar, though.

It's not cellars that is a problem in the housing market, it's buyers.

Roman Kienast who currently earns his trade in the Norwegian league.

I vaguely remember him as a sub in a couple of EC2008 matches - during the general torpor of games involving Austria I glanced up to see what I thought was Big Bad Darius hurtling around knocking defenders over. (aaah happy days!)

... sadly my howls of 'Run Forrest, Run!' had no effect, though I think he was close to scoring a couple of times - but to be honest his strikes on goal were more threatening to the crowd than his oppos goal?

...if he's cheap he might be worth a punt as a potential late impact sub?
[Emphasis on the 'impact' ! ]

Yay

Can we sign him? Please.

He was HILARIOUS at the Euros. Mazy dribbles with the Polish defender looking on in mild bemusement.

Certainly left-footed, based on that evidence.
