I'm not sure a straight swap for McFadden would be the end of the world, but I don;t think a move to Birmingham would exactly set Kitson's pulse racing.

Kits has previously gone one record (some seasons ago iirc) that he wouldn't leave reading, because the only places worth going (ie prem) would see him bench warming most the time at best.

Now the prem bench warming bit may well have changed now, but I can't see any reason why he'd go to Brum, unless we were essentially telling him he's surplus to requirements. Which is rather a tad unlikely IMO.
