Sarah Star "...Tony Pulis, is also looking to add Tottenham Hotspur's Anthony Gardner and Reading's Dave Kitson although he is refusing to meet the asking price of £4m for the striker." The Independent

We're not in the business of selling our best players cheaply, so why start now? And also, I doubt that we want to let him go anyway, so Stoke better had not expect us to reduce the fee.

Kitson, Marek, Harper, Hahnemann and Bikey are the players I would make other teams pay through the nose to prise away from us.

I think they are very important to our success in the coming season.
There isn't a single one I'd be willing to let go for less than £4m (possible exception Hahnemann) And I'd want more like £6-7m for Kitson.

Well it is nice to see that they value him at a higher price than a young goalkeeper who has played for England twice.

Doesn't say it's agreed. It says Stoke are 'poised' to sign him. That could mean anything quite frankly.

Coupled with the late withdrawal from the squad last night, there's plenty of smoke with this one.

Personally I think £4.5m for a 28 year old striker who has regular injury problems is not a bad deal. I think it will also help to improve the team spirit at the club as can imagine that he can be quite a disruptive influence at times.

Meanwhile, Bobby Zamora goes to Fulham. If we ARE about to lose Kitson, I wonder who on earth we're going to attract to little 'ol Reading?

If we keep the other 3 strikers I'm betting we won't replace him

Part of me agrees with this.

They will never get a full season out of him and his knees are only going to get worse as he gets older.

Didn't he say a while back that his body won't take professional football for more than a few years more?

And which part of you agreed with my comments?

It'll be a shame to lose him but I agree that the the price is probably pretty good for both clubs.

If he were less injury prone you could add on a couple of million, but it will be a massive loss in terms of how we play as Kitson is the forward who, to quote Coppell, is the fulcrum to so much of what we do. Londinium might not agree with me but the other three forward we have are pretty similar and we'll find it very hard to pick up a forward to replace Kitson like for like (in style if not quality).

Saw Hammond on Sky Sports this morning-he was very guarded when asked about Kitson leaving.
