He seems to be having an alright pre-season, and he really impressed at Millwall in League 1 last season. Do you think he'll have a significant role in our first team this season?

I think he certainly has a real chance of breaking through, yes.

Pearce, Karacan and Henry all have great chances this season. It's up to them now!

I thought we got relegated? I don't recall any of them ever playing in the Championship.

I believe that Jem has done well so far in pre season and by getting 90 minutes under his belt at Mk Dons will help him gain experience and confidence. I wouldn't be suprised if we see him in the squad on many occasions next season.

Funny, I rather thought that described you.

How about I put it differently for you.

Karacan will be an important squad/bench player who fits well into the first team when called on in the coming season.

Question: Do you think he'll have a significant role this season?
Answer: Yes as an important squad/bench player.

That is missing the point? Harold, you do talk drivel. Go and see if one of your funnier and cleverer friends can try and help you to stop looking silly.

Harry Carry is right, on one level. We do need to be finding some truly quality players if we have the long term aim of staying in the Premiership but we probably won't and, if we do, they'll go for a pretty small price after a season and a half. So finding someone at a young age, who can play as a squad player and do well for us at the whatever level we find ourself at and Karacan could fulfil that description. He sounds promising but I hope to get to a pre-season game to see him in the flesh.

The teams that have a real need to find the next Keane/Viera/Makalele would be the teams just outside of the CL who simply cannot buy a player of that quality so would have to find it. And even there, as we've seen with Carrick, Barry and Berbatov (in recent years at least), the moment they find they have a suitable player, that player looks up to the next level.

Tbh I think success this season is going to come in the form of the academy players. Pearce Henry Karacan Robson-Kanu and Golborne all look as though they could hack it in this league esp as a few of them have already played in the championship before. The worrying thing is Coppell seems to be either not playing them or playing them out of position. I thought pearce was a centre back but seems to be put in centre mid. We will have to establish our "first" team early on in the season to stand any chance of success.

My team:

Hahnemann
Rosenior Bikey Pearce Shorey/Golbourne

Kebe Matejovsky Cisse Convey

Lita Doyle

Bench:
-Federici
-Henry
-Long
-Ingimarsson
-Karacan

we've got bundles of centrebacks, playing him in midfield in a fitness excercise isn't hugely worrying IMO, in fact I find it rather promising. It suggests his passing, movement and awareness is potentially quite good.

A ball playing centreback is always useful.
