Royalee We need to get rid of Hunt, not build a team of them. Dreadful if this is true.

Bit like a park side where the manager is really stuck for players and can't get anyone in, one of the players pipes up 'well my brother's not bad he plays a bit'
Quick get him signed on!

Gordons Cummingpapereyes According to the guy on SSN JUST NOW we are in talks with a foreign striker at the moment but are very cagey about the details.
Face facts.......we are always cagey until deal is finalised. The Reading way and so it should be.
Reading will never go public about transfer dealings until deal is done. Any talk by the management in public is designed to get the best price for any deal coming in or out.
Consequently we are all going to be really frustrated.......................

As I said earlier, I don't buy that for a second.
Coppell doesn't work like that anyway, he speaks from the heart at the time of being asked a question. He might hide the odd fact here or there or put some spin on a few things but I can't imagine he or anyone else at the club believing that a few choice words on our website or in the general media is going to save us a couple of hundred grand on a transfer fee.
Also, perhaps the club should concentrate a bit more of it's PR on looking after it's most important assets, the fans, their good will and their love and enthusiasm for the club. Time and time again we see and hear comments coming out of the club that damage the morale of a lot of the support. Thats poor PR and poor stakeholder management if you ask me.
How long will it be before JM, Coppell and his staff are trying to raise a battle cry to get a positive and passionate atmosphere for the first home game of the season. If they continue to beat down any positive vibe about the place with PR like this it's going to be a much tougher task than if they give us something to be positive about.

Gordons Cumming Coppell only speaks from the heart?
Give him some credit. He's an intelligent guy and thinks very carefully what he says. He just keeps his cards very close to his chest.

Agree with a lot of that but really they're damned if they do and damned if they don't in a way.
If they talk things up then they're accused of spinning and trying to pull the wool over the fans eyes. If they are more realistic and downbeat then they get accused of crap PR.
There's so much media attention these days with the internet/tv/radio/newspapers etc that the vast majority of what comes out is totally meaningless and designed purely to fulfill certain media obligations.
Frankly I'm quite surprised how so many people put so much store by what comes out really.

Very true, there is so much bullshit and the tired old cliches trawled out to fill column inches and drive website traffic that most of it shouldn't be believed.
BUT, there is a hppy medium that the club, with it's professional marketing department and media specialists should be able to find. A good start would to be honest with us.
