Assumption-"foreign" striker means somebody currently playing abroad otherwise it would have been "Premiership" or "Championship" striker.
Remember last season about us not signing "foreigners" because of the time they take to settle to the pace of our game so why weren't we bidding (and don't tell me that the club were suddenly surprised by the Kitson move)for this player back in May when he could have had 2 months to fit in or in June if he was playing in the Euros?

I really do feel at times that our club is run in a very amateurish way-that may appeal to some people but I have to admit to preferring a professional set-up and a genuine desire to play at the highest level.

We might do everything in a business like manner but we seem like we're just too slow and not prepared enough to go out there and lead the market as opposed to follow it.

I've just not seen any evidence of us being pro-active and thoughtful enough in a lot of what we've been doing over the last 18 months and I find it very worrying for the future of the club.

This is a pivotal season for us, and all I'm seeing is us standing still. It doesn't surprise me though, we've got a manager who didn't want to be here because he didn't think he was the best man for the job and to top it off he'll probably be off at the end of the season anyway.

The reason I think this is pivotal is that if we don't challenge, or appear to show the right ambitions, the rest of the football world will chalk us down as small time and happy to settle into a mid-table Championship role.

If that is the case it'll become a lot harder for us to attract an ambitious and capable manager next season let alone the right players to take us forward.

We'll go back to being the furr coat no knickers club that Coppell saw us as before he agreed to take over.

If we show we mean business and try to take the division by the scruff of the neck, show that we want players who will take us forward, and show we really want to be back mixing it with the big boys, then we'll lose a lot less of the respect and credability that the 05-06 and 06-07 seasons bought us.

As for Coppell, I think he felt guilty and the emotional blackmail was too much. I think his gut feel that he'd run his course here was right and I wouldn't be surprised if he's not here past January.

I fear the club cant win on this one, we all know that it is going to be the cheap option, something we are becoming well known for, the Irish lad has a good scoring record, but the likes of Doyle dont come along too often, as it is we have an awful record in the transfer market over the past couple of years and in reality have purchased some right dross so whoever it is lets hope that we have got it right........at last, but I cant find myself holding my breath. I just hope its not the cheap option to keep the fans happy.
