My biggest problem is the squad is very, very stale.

That was our biggest problem last season.

Signing the brother of the player who last season summed up all that was wrong with the club (great effort, no end product, no worry of being dropped) isn't really the way to freshen things up.

It's not like there no other strikers out there is it?

But the truth is, this is low pressure, no money, Hunty's brother won't cause any problems or upset the players who served us so well last season.

That's what every signing Coppell's makes is about. How much pressure will this put me under?

Barry the bird boggler 600k is the offer now according to the Dundee Courier, so looks like we're trying to get another bargain by adding 100k each time they say no to the last bid - don't you just love the ambition being shown here.

Other clubs try to do a bit of mix and matching with a few unknowns and proven names while all we ever do is pursue people who need to get to know the game and/or country/language at whatever level we're playing with a view to them looking the part in a year or two.

No doubt Hunt 2's arrival will seal Hunt 1 staying with the club - shame Kitson and Little didn't have brothers we could sign.

yes because ambition = paying over the odds for players

In the light of SC's "fine to have three happy strikers here" and buying to replace leavers it all seems to be pointing towards Hunt replacing Lita/Doyle - with Lita my favourite as he is out of contract next summer.

You could be right although I hope you're not! He certainly does seem to be in the same mould as Lita.

No Wendy you miss his point altogether.
What he is saying (I think) is that once in a while it makes sense to go for a player proven at the level at which you are going to play and it doesn't always have to be about players needing time to bed in.

Spacey,
Does he/she need you to answer for him/her?
Just once per decade could you please come up with something constructive or interesting rather than forever showing your total lack of manners or good grace to all and sundry.
I blame the parents.

Yep thats my interpretation as well.

EDIT: The only thing i would say is that i think Doyle might be the more likely considering he may attract Premiership attention. I would be a little disppointed if we sold Lita to a Championship rival.

I agree that Doyle is probably more saleable but I would be more disappointed if we sold Doyle as I think he would be better in The Premiership than Lita for when we get back, unless by then they are both old men and we would need to look elsewhere.
If we do sell Doyle I think we will be committing football suicide by letting our top two strikers go.

RE: Lita or Doyle going. I'd rather see Lita go than Doyler, i mean Lita is a nuisance off the pitch and SC has even shown that he doesn't trust Lita on the pitch. I'md bring in Hoel Hunt for Lita and have Doyle and Hunt up front. Anyone for that?

Spacey,
As a pedant (you)who is forever boringly picking people up on their spellings rather than making any meaningful contribution to any debate I think you need to look at the use of the word "very" in the above context.
By my reckoning a person can be certain or convinced but not very certain or very convinced because "certain" and "convinced" are absolutes and are words that do not need further embellishment.
So in the future not only can you make sure that your spellings are correct but also satisfy yourself (ooer missus) that being certain or convinced is enough,i.e you cannot be persuaded otherwise and to paraphrase Mrs Thatch "the weirdo is not for turning".
BTW anything to add to this particular topic?

I really hope Hunt is not a replacement for Lita. Lita is more than capable of scoring 15+ Goals this season.

Living up this end of the world as I do, I have seen Noel Hunt on TV a few times and he is an energetic, and run all day type of player, scored a few for Dundee last season but there were a few pens in there as well, might do ok, only time will tell, I just hope this isnt £600,000 being spent to keep his brother here !
