Had something similar on my NUS card for th efirst couple of years at uni. It was scrapped because no one used it though.

Having money you can spend anywhere > having to remember to put money on a card you can only use at certain locations you are at no more than 50 times a year.

83% found it easy to use in a survey, I wonder how many used it though.

I believe Tesco are going to use Quick pay as well, no cash or cards in their stores, no I thought not.

I'm not happy about this either. We had a similar system at work a while ago, you never knew if you had been charged the right amount when you payed for anything and so people never trusted the system.

On top of that I strongly object to paying a '£1 admin fee' to get my own money back if I want to cash in my balance. That really is taking the P1ss - maybe I should charge the club a £1 admin fee everytime I am put on hold phone the poxy sales centre.

Will the 'Fosters Fairys' only accept these cards as well, or are they being scrapped as part of this 'improvement' in service that is being inflicted on us?

Still I guess when it comes down to it, if we don't like it then don't use it and maybe commercial pressure will change things. Not sure how I can sneak a few largers in past the rucksack police though.

Takings will go up as they can serve more people in the time available and staff cannot pocket the takings. I certainly spent more during last seasons trial because there were no long queues and it was easy to get a served at half time without missing any of the game.

When youplace your card on the pad on the counter it gives a read out of how much credit is on there and how much you are being charged. There are also terminals on the walls of the concourse which give you a read out of deposits and individual purchases or you can access this inf on line. It is therefore easier to check that you are being charged correctly than paying cash and often being short changed.

Are you sure the lack of queue wasn't because less people were buying stuff or that the counter staff were actually putting some effort in AND able to speak English?

I would guess the takings weren't significantly hurt because otherwise the club probably wouldn't have seen it as a success but I really don't like the way the club is forcing this on me and I will certainly be stopping buying my pie(s).
