Readingfc50 Could happen as their left back Bouma is out for a while

Goal.com Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill says there is absolutely no chance that the club will cut loose Wilfred Bouma following his horror injury on the weekend.

Does that not count as cutting him loose? :P (found here)

Ian Royal can't help feel he acted like a a bit of git last season and not sure he'd be a great use to us this season.

Can't say I agree with you on either count there to be honest. You come across as rather blase' about his likely departure, so presumably you'll be content with Golbourne or worse still Rosenior as back up :|

No, I would want a decent replacement brought in because Golbourne is injured and using Rosenior (I rate him more than you, but less than Murty currently) would leave us with no full back cover of any standard.

However, I would prefer a bunch of cash and a committed player of lesser pedigree to an uncommitted Shorey with his mind on a big money deal to the Prem, or what could have been if he'd got a big money deal to the Prem.

His appalling corners didn't impress me last season. He is also often a driving force for us when things aren't going well. Skinning a couple of players with a quick drop of the shoulder and setting up a chance. That happened very rarely last season. I thought his passing and crossing were below his ability and I don't think his heart or mind was at the club.

Worst of all though was him just sodding off down the tunnell at Derby, probably thinking (as most of us probably were as well) that he'd be off in the summer. No acknowledgement at all. Maybe that's got me more than it should have done, he wasn't the only one. But he was the most glaringly obvious.

Wow. Just imagine if this had already been discussed on the other Shorey Rumour thread.

No.

They've been having contract talks and O'Neil is just saying that they won't just leave Bouma out in the cold because he's now had this horrific looking injury. Bit like the way we treated Mate and Brown over the last couple of years I guess.

Buying in another left back is a bit different to what they're talking about.

Plus the injury isn't as bad as first feared (Same article)

are you saying that you think that shorey has reason to be p***ed off with howe ?

the only quote from howe about shorey was something along the lines of "he's wanted to leave for a season or so"

which everyone knows is true (shorey has done an interview with SSN saying essentially the same thing)

i know howe is forever putting his foot in it, but this time i can't see why shorey has singled him out for criticism ?

There have been a few stories recently that West Ham are chasing Mattock now.

If Shorey were to go, he's still the one that I'd like us to take a gamble on.

Agree totally, but Mattock would require us spending in excess of £1.5m I'm sure, and I don't think Coppell really has the ability to spend that on any one player.

If you want to believe we have £5m in the bank to play with, like we had £10m last season but didn't spend it, then please do.

Coppell's no fool. If he could let Shorey go and bring a player like Mattock in I bet you he wouldn't have to think about it to long.

Well we bought Fae last season for £2.5m without selling anybody..

Halford, Seol, possibly Matejovsky.

You do talk rubbish and make stuff up a lot Jay.

Brown would certainly have sorted out our midfield, he loves a tackle.
