rfc58 I agree with the comment that the crowd would have been more sizable if we'd have had "quality new signings" to view instead of a new shirt sponsor.

spot on! I think all that most fans wanted was a couple of known quality signings to replace Little/Oster and Kitson. N Hunt hardly made me raise an eyebrow based on our experience of scottish signings during the ill fated Burns era. Still not to worry, looks like Shorey will be gone mid week and Harper probably the day before the forest game. Still not to worry, Rosenior can play at left back!
Come back Andy Hughes--all is forgiven!

Basingstoke Royal I cannot understand why our 'supporters' didnt show up today - apart from the 7,000 real ones.

Au contraire. I don't understand why anyone would want to hand over their hard-earned, on a precious day off work to watch a training session.

Mowing the lawn > pre-season friendlies.

Watching and supporting your team > Sitting on your arse

Basingstoke Royal
footie_chick An attendance of 7000?

WHERE HAVE ALL THE PLASTICS GONE? And before you ask -I had a ticket but sold it to a friend as am poorly in bed :(

Remember when we used to sell out for the friendlies

Sounds to me like most of the plastics are here.

Good performance. Really impressed with Kebe, Lita and Karacan. Worst game I have seen from Convey.

Lita ran Curtis Davies ragged and Championship defences are going to have a torrid time this year.

Looking forward to the new season!

I think that was Davies first game back after a pretty horrific and long term injury.

I wouldn't put too much weight on anyone giving him the run around to be honest.

Why the oxf*rd would anyone expect large crowds to play a Premiership team? You know, the sort of Premiership team we have played for two seasons running. Idiots

About people saying that the crowd was poor...Oh well it's a pre-season and it's not like it's a "big" match for us as we have played them for the last 2 seasons. Overall i thought it was a good day and have alot of respect for the Villa fans as they brought quite a few down.

Agree with H&P, was never going to be a huge crowd, not attractive fixture, and with money tight, folk cut back, £20 pays for a indian takeaway, or a game of footy, or a week of leccy, games need a purpose to attract fans, hence I am hoping that we treat cup games in a different manner this coming season, not as a run out for the reserves.

they can't have had many more than we took to MK.

Didn't go to the game and haven't seen much of Karacan apart from 1, possibly 2 b'mouth games. I like most others have been getting a bit annoyed at the lack of transfer activity but for me, the emergence of Karacan as a serious contender for a starting place is just as, if not more exciting than a new big money signing. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in action and really hope he establishes himslef this year. Can't wait for the forest game, actually giggled to myself like a school girl yesterday when I randomly thought about it. Bring on better atmosphere and playing without fear again.

Given that the capacity of half the south stand is 2,400,they must have brought at least 2,000 which is pretty impressive. On the other hand we took about 600 to Stadium MK. Quite a difference i think.

In a non-competative match.?
Incorrect
Good for the kids, Grannies etc, etc though.

There was NOT over 2,000 Villa at the game on Saturday.

Are you saying that almost 30% of the TOTAL crowd were in the sparsely populated half
of one side of the South Stand ??????

Villa had a 1,000...1,200 at most.

or just wanted to see how the team was shaping up.

it is amusing to see fans claim they are un-plastic because they DIDN'T go to the game.
