All time results between Nottingham Forest and Reading

What are your memories of games against Forest? I remember the 3-0 hammering of them at the Mad Stad as being a great performance and the 3-3 draw at Elm Park was quite thrilling.

p.s. where's the thread about the referee for the Forest game this Sunday?

Remind me, isn't this the one where the Forest keeper got sent off for handling outside the area?

Dave Beasant was sent off for tripping up Martin Williams, not handling outside the area.

(I know, I know, some of you think Williams dived!)

Cracking game. Kevin Watson came off the bench and absolutely ran the show. His and Pardew's finest hour maybe? Remember sitting in the pub afterwards, thinking this is the year we'll finally make it. Can't beat a bit of earLOLy season optimism.

Did we really play them on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day in 1930?
Not much of a Christmas for the players in those days!

And of course there was the Simod Cup win at Elm Park in the 87/88 season.
A big draw at the time...and we beat them 2-1 in the 3rd round.

....then it was Bradford in the 4th round,
...Coventry in the semis (made famous by the late late penalty shoot-out)
and then the 4-1 win at Wembley.

I really enjoyed this game

Xmas day and Boxing day - I think that was how it used to work, with the boxing day games tending to be goal fests.

That used to be normal. The first game I ever saw was Chelsea v Arsenal on Christmas day (in 19** !) and the reverse fixture was played on Boxing Day

ahh - just seen Spacey final line about the Simod game.
apologies.
Still, a great night, felt like one of those special Elm Park evenings that cropped up every now and then.

Indeed, I don't remember it very much, but I do remember the media interest in Neil Webb returning to his old club, there was loads of media reporters surrounding him on the pitch!

Who scored the goals, can you remember?

Yes, that game had it all:

* Pierre van Hoodjink's early free kick goal that stunned me - I missed it as I was looking around at a pretty girl in the Southbank!
* Martin Williams being fouled and winning a penalty which he converted after Dave Beasant was sent off.
* Steve Stone missing that astonishing open goal sitter.
* Forest score two goals.
* James Lambert jinks through three defenders (or was it two?) and tucks the ball away past the keeper (Chettle, I think?).
* From a corner, Linvoy powers in a fericous header into the net to secure a precious point for us.

Actually, I think I might watch the video sometime this week! ;)
