Uke Not spending everything we have now and seeing how the Prem squad perform in the Championship while keeping cash to spend in January is a ridiculous strategy and certainly not learning from our lessons!

Surely if we invest the money in a bank account, we'd get some interest and therefore have more money in January? ;)

Whoosh!

So am I right in thinking we've accepted a £100m bid for Shorey from Sunderland? :?

A little below his valuation I feel, but he was shite last season, only 12 months left on his contract etc.

Probably not the most reliable of sources, but.....

£4.5m would be a great bit of business.

Now Coppell expects him to be gone by end of week, which would add fuel to the fire regarding Villa and Sunderland having bids accepted. Also says he is now in market for a left back. All on OS

If this is true then there's only one place that Shorey will end up - and it won't be Sunderland. Villa would be a great move for him, and could see him establish himself back in the England squad.

A move to Sunderland would be toilet.

£4.5 million would also be good business for us.

£4.5m is an excellent bit of business if true. Even if it's only £2-3m upfront.

This is most excellent news. Sunderland are going to have to chuck money at Shorey to get him to go to them over Villa. Better, bigger more likely to be successful and he can meet up with an old chum.

Right back, but can play centre back - dont you remember him playing in the 2002 World Cup

Oh and he was at Derby on loan last season, from Man City - not sure if he's still there though.

I think he re-surfaced at Hull for a bit, but then again who hasn't.

I remember him getting sent off for Leeds for kicking the ball at an injured player.

A very good right back who just suffered a bit from the red mist.

Surprisingly a very mild mannered and thoughtful chap off the pitch and a better player than he was really given credit for.

Probably our second best player at the World Cup, second to Nicky Butt too
