Their gain is not your loss.

Unfortunately I'm a stubborn git and won't give up my seat or my habit so lightly. I also enjoy the rest of the day with the people I've supported the club with for the last 20 odd years. The football is still enjoyable despite everything the club has done to sour my experience (a lot of it outside of my just going to the game).

I've also already stumped up my money for the ST so I'm a bit loathed to just throw it away!!

As for the discount, it be claimed retrospectively and so the number might be higher than you think, but I agree the number won't be significant, it's purely the pricnliple that has, admittedly irrationally, wound me up. Although they officially stopped selling STs, I thought someone said on here that you could still buy them if you went in and asked. If not then the club are more stupid than they make out

Be honest, you are suffering from a good old dose of 'sour grapes'.

Probably! :x

Which is why I've be sure to always say it's irrational.

The fact that the club is willing to charge me a different price for the same product as they're happy to charge someone else is quite galling though, even if the reason behind it is argueably valid, especially when they do it retrospectively too.

The price of the ticket is the same.

It's just that in this case Waitrose's money has subsidised the ticket for their staff.

I got in to Ascot for half price on Saturday using a very similar scheme. That's life.

The price of the ticket is different. How do we say it, FACT!

We might not have got the Waitrose deal without offering the discount, but I doubt their actually picking up the tab for 25%, and I bet there isn't a clause in the sponsorship deal restricting the number of discounted tickets available so the sponsorship does not cover the cost.

I bet they are picking up the tab, it's part of their workers partnership scheme. You know, those corporate schemes that discount things like leisure, travel, holidays, and lots of other stuff. It's not a free discount

Having worked on a few discount programs like that in the past I'd still be surprised.

From my experience they're generally just seen as a form of sales promotion by the vendor and they don't mind taking a hit on their margin to increase trial rates. I might be wrong in this case.

The fact remains that the price is different even if the revenue into the club remains constant. Totally different things.

You seem to be the only person who has a problem with this though.

I know, that doesn't surprise me too much though! I get like that

I didn't ask anyone else to have a problem with it either. My continued posting is only to counter others attempts at justifying it, which in my experience and opinion don't hold much water.

Anyway, I'm just giving my opinion, which, like I said, is pretty irrational in this instance.

I know, sometimes there really is a simple joy in just being a grumpy old bugger- you enjoy it!
