Aston Villa are willing to pay £7 million for Kevin Doyle, but Reading want £8 million for the Ireland forward. Reading paid Cork City £78,000 for Doyle three years ago. However, Steve Coppell, the Reading manager, has warned other clubs that he will sell his best players only for the right price, despite the club's relegation to the Coca-Cola Championship.

I read that as well this morning.

If true then £8million os a good price. Although, even if the proce was double that I would not want him to go simply becuase we would not use the money to replace him.

Maybe I am being to cynical but I can almosty see the Coppell quotes now..

After 22 years of going to matches and supporting the club....I feel exactly the same with regards to my sentiments towards the club and my confidence in the club to buy replacements.

Beckford may be a good signing, but there is no way he is worth 4.5mil......thats more than we got for Shorey

I must admit naively thinking the sale of Shorey would be the end of the exodus. If Doyle goes as well then I really will be thoroughly hacked off and would question what the hell is the point in seeing the club continue to go backwards...

I really hope your right but it concerns me that the club will see £8 million as a good deal and take the money and run. Will there then be time to sign a good enough replacement?
