rg6royal If Doyle does leave them I'm positive that we will bring in a new player in place of him. I very much doubt Doyle is going though.

I really hope your right but it concerns me that the club will see £8 million as a good deal and take the money and run. Will there then be time to sign a good enough replacement?

I think all of us would be fed up if this is true but I don't believe this rumour at all and expect that we would turn down any offer. I don't think Villa even need another striker and therefore Sunderland are the only realistic bidders if they start badly - as they have no decent fit strikers but we should tell them to run and jump IMO.

£8m

Feck me, we would be silly to reject that!

£8m in whatever denominations will not score any goals.

Come to think of it, that's a pretty fair trade, then.

Maybe but what has it cost the club by being relegated?.........a heck of a lot more than £8 million.
As long as there are no more sales I wont be too concerned but there is no need to sell Doyle so lets keep him and ensure we have the strikers capable of getting us back up

8M quid is a good offer and we should take it, or should we............. the problem is that money would never ever be spent on replacement players, it would only go into Mr Mad's back pocket (paid as loan repayments for tax purposes)

I would refuse an 8 million bid for Doyle.

However it will be very difficult for the club to do so. I'm not even sure if the 7 million bid was genuine. If they hit 8 I think Doyle's a goner unfortunately...

If he wants to go, then I would be surprised to see us turn down £7M to be honest.

7 Million!!!! You must be joking. He had a shocker last year & based on one relatively good year in the Prem he's not worth 7 million.
If he does go though it would be interesting to see who we buy with the 250k that madejski makes available for his replacement. Mind you, he could make 20 million availabke we still wouldn't buy anybody.

I swear he's come out saying that he wants to stay put, and is very happy at Reading...

He had a bad season because the rest of the team was pretty crap.

just cant see JM turning an £8m bid away, his lust for money will see to that, and sadly that is where the cash will stay, we will get the normal, "we have targets" and on the 1st september it will be "we tried to get our man, but, it wasn't possible to do any business, so we will go with what we have and look to strengthen in january" yawn................................... :

cork city forum?? What does it say (can't access if non-member) £8m is an absurd bid, and we should take it, unless we have money to spend, then, whats the point, Doyle will probably come good at some stage and in the mean time we could buy someone anyway

Have we got the right service?

Nothing new (or surprising) - if a decent offer from a prem league team comes in he would want to go. For as long as he is a Reading player he will give his all.

Sunday World newspaper in Ireland.

He's all but gone, Reading linked to replace him with Cork City's Dave Mooney.
