I thought he was a left back? I'm sorry if I'm confused here, but when he came on for Convey, I would have thought that he'd go into the LB slot and push up S. Hunt. But no, he swapped flanks with Kebe. I have never seen him play before, but when he took charge of the ball, beat a defender, I was thinking, good going, now for the cross.....D'oh! That was a very bad attempt at a cross. Never mind, the lad must have been nervous. How did the crowd react to that?

I'm still not sure about what he's like, so I'll be reserving judgement until I've seen him play some more.....is he going to have a chance at all this season?

He's a full back who can play both RB and LB.

Coppell brought him on to play RM the same way he often used to put Gunnarsson in there just to help shut out a game.

i laughed too, he did look very nervous

but i thought he grew into it, apart from a blasted cross into the stands(something hes probably learned from hunty and convey!)i thought he did ok

i was also confused as to why he didnt play at LB when convey went orf

Those at the Dagenham game will know that he can put in a calm and poised 90 minutues. The cross was unfortunate - but he didnt actually seem that nervous against the daggers.

Kelly is right footed but can play at either left or right back. Kebe is more at home on the left wing which is why he moved wings.

Interesting that Kelly has come from nowhere to be on the fringe of the squad. Pearce and Henry have been mentioned for a while but its interesting that Kelly has been able to emerge almost unoticed.

We've had multiple comments about players like Henry and Coppell's reluctance to play him in the League side, then Kelly appears from nowhere and gets in the side. Where did he come from and what's the background on him?

It was pretty funny that his first chance to have an impact for reading was a cross that ended up in the crowd
But if he is given more opportunities this season i'm sure we will see better stuff from him

Agreed. He played very well against the daggers, and even seemed fine after his initial nervous cross (which was literally seconds after coming on). Let's hope the nerves are out of his system and he can push on properly.

He didn't look so much nervous as over eager to me. He tried a bit too hard hence the sliced cross.

That says to me that the club find the league much much more important than the early stages of the league cup (as you'd expect) and so do the players.

Apart from that he played quite well and put in at least one great ball down the flank for NHunt, I think...

Wonder whether it might possibly have something to do with the fact that we only have one fully fit recognised senior full back on our books at the moment . Youngsters who have never previously been good enough are suddenly more than adequate, which must be a particularly joyous coincidence for Steve Coppell.
