Anyone can look good on video clips. I've seen him play twice and don't think he's for us.

Very lightweight and anonymous for Norwich where he played right midfield or centre midfield. As far as I know he's not a left back and from memory, right footed.

If that's our new left back I'll leave it.

He is definately left-footed. Watched him play for Arsenal at LB against Sevilla in the Amsterdam tournament, and was very impressed. A terrific left foot, pacey, and OK in the tackle.

Wenger obviously rates him, and I trust his judgement over a few Norwich fans'.

Yeah, Wenger rates him so much he's farming him out.

Well he was on the bench for the WBA game, and gave him a new contract in the summer, so yeah he rates him.

Its also worth remembering that Coppell may want to stick with Hunt at LB and bring Gibbs in at LM.

Following appeared on an Arsenal web site updated every few minutes:

"Hot on the heels of Håvard Nordtveit’s switch to UD Salamanca, Arsenal have agreed to let another youngster leave on loan - Kieran Gibbs.

The versatile left sided starlet is expected to tie up a season-long loan move to Championship outfit Reading, with some sources already suggesting the transfer is done.

Reading are a club known for keeping their transfer activity away from the press, but chief executive Nigel Howe confirmed their intentions to sign the former Wimbledon winger last week, although he seemed hesitant due to the players lack of experience.

“Gibbs is the sort of player Arsenal will loan out. Signing a Premier League player for the season could be very attractive to a club like ours.”

“He’s an outstanding prospect but the feeling is he is a little too young for what we need.”

However, with more established options proving more illusive, Steve Coppell has turned to Gibbs to solve the troublesome left back slot, following Nicky Shorey’s sale to Aston Villa last week.

Should all the paper work be wrapped up in time, the 18-year-old should be in contention to make his debut away to Charlton Athletic in the lunch time kick off on Saturday.
