Of course they couldn't announce the deal as done until the deal was done but, given that the news of a likely transfer had leaked like a high pressure hose through a sieve, they could have acknowledged that the final moves towards a transfer were taking place.
The type of information that was circulating this morning was far more than idle media speculation. What's more the BBC aren't in the habit of making such definitive statements without something to back it up. So why the long delay from them publishing the news until the OS got the news out? They must have a computer full of pre-prepared spin by now so it would have been a simple task to cut and paste!
andrew1957 This is a great piece of business for Reading IMO - even if the money is not re-invested.

Please explain how it is a great bit of business the football club (not JM enterprises) if the money is not re-invested in improving our team/squad? As for Ivar and Duberry being more reliable - big question mark of the former who has often relied on Sonko or someone else to get him out of jail (primarily due to his lack of pace) and Duberry might be more reliable if only we could rely on him being fit to play on a regular basis (wasn't he carrying a slight injury when we signed him?).
kingsleyslovewand Sky Sports confirm Sonko to Stoke for 2 mil rising to 2.25 mil
So much for Coppell's hefty premium if a club wanted to sign one of our players after the season started!
