papereyes Dear Reading FC

If we sell any player to Villa, can you try to get Craig Gardner in return

Yours sincerely

papereyes

lol ?

dont think so

In which way? A year on loan is not beyond the realms of possibility (he's what? 22 tops) and he's far better than our midfielders.

think he is too good mate tbh, i think he was due to be involved quite a bit this season but a pre season injury has forced him back

good player would love it but....

He's definitely behind Barry, Petrov and Reo-Coker
He's possibly behind Sidwell
He's alongside Osbourne and Salifou.

Its the sort of player I would have looked at in our first season in the Premiership, let alone our second or now. Young, hungry, some level of pedigree.

'greed

The question is, how much would they want for him?

I would, quite frankly, be shocked if he cost less than Fae and Cisse, combined, for example. It does depend on contracts etc but even a loan would be worth pursuing, imo. Maloney, who would have improved our side no end, went to Villa for £1 million and they sold him, two(?) years later for two and a half. Within our budget that.

I also think you can extend this across most Premiership clubs. It is possible to get bargains, imo.

Rubbish rumour about Doyle

by Franchise FC » 30 Aug 2008 17:41

I know he still might go, but the muppet who convinced me on Tuesday night that we'd accepted a bid from Villa for Doyler clearly had me.

Well, assuming he's back to his winning ways, with a long awaited return to form and well deserved hat trick, can't see him going anywhere just yet.

Petrov is terrible... he's probably ahead of him. He's definately ahead of Osbourne and probably Salifou too. Sidwell is ahead of Petrov and by the looks of things Reo-Coker, who is playing right wing (or was until Milner arrived).

Today is the worst time for him to return to form and remind others how good he is. A hat trick could just lead to a sale...

Now who can arrange for Hammond to be briefly kidnapped?

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill hopes to capture Reading striker Kevin Doyle. The deal would take O'Neill's spree through the £50million barrier. But Reading's £8million price tag may scupper the move.

Lets hope we stick to our guns!!

We lose Doyle we lose hope of promotion. Lita, not even on the bench yesterday and he's one of the best strikers in the league. Suggests to me maybe there are still problems with him and he could be one of the few players remaining that want out.

I just want Tuesday morning to arrive and find that we have sold nobody else.

BUT.....
Streets on the 26 Aug 2008 00:07 regarding the proposed 7.5 million move of Kevin Doyle to Aston Villa Take it!

So, I'm confused. Does that men you don't want us to get promoted or are you just being a bit of a dick head?

Heard yesterday that Doyle to Villa is a done deal-not from a usual source.

If it was a "done deal" he wouldn't have played - no way would a club bid silly money and then allow that bloke to play.

Agreed. The hattrick may just reignite Villa's interest at the money we want too.

Leaving us with Lita, LOLong, N.Hunt and Mooney scares the crap out of me though.

Lita and N.Hunt aren't a bad pairing, maybe, but Long and Mooney...worrying times if we don't replace Doyle with some quality.

Monday night can't end soon enough.

Doesn't look too good does it?

If we've set a price, Villa will match it.
