Will sit alone atop the table if Wolfsburg fail to defeat Bochum away today, and likely to own it on GD even if not.

A bad day for 1.FCN. Trainer Thomas von Heesen quit last night (two games into the season), and Robert Vittek signed for Lille. I really liked Vittek but he was a bit hot & cold at times - he simply didn't score enough goals though.

Favourite for the Nuremberg job according to the papers is former coach Wolfgang Wolf (former trainer of Wolfsburg!).

'Gladbach really needed that win today. Werder and Bayern slow out of the blocks with the latter to play Hertha at home on Sunday.

Serious question - This thread appears to be only about German football. If that is what this is then should I just keep using the other ongoing thread to post video links to the goals from various European leagues?

(this ain't meant to be arsey)

Isn't that just a question of there being more German based 'nobbers than Spanish or Italian or French?

To be honest, I had hoped that more people would contribute to the thread - the league I know something about and have ready access to is obviously the German and that is why I have only made German related posts. I had not meant the thread to be what cmonurz suggested it might be but I didn't think it a bad idea at the time. Two separate threads are not really necessary but if you want to bring your 'love child' back by posting links and whatever soggy, that's fine by me - I will 'contribute' to that thread in the future then and let this one die.

Or you could start posting here - as you prefer.

Fair enough I will start posting it on here instead. Just thought it a bit of a shame to lose the old thread when it had a lot of interesting info/predictions etc on there for the past year or 2.

Anywhom, for future info here is a link to the old thread and I shall start posting in here instead.

Have the goals from Utrecht 1-5 PSV to post up here in a while, too busy watching Sampdoria V Inter right now.

First of the season from La Primera now in the books, with EspanYol emerging victorious 1-0 over visitors Valladolid, who did everything but score over four wild minutes of time added on at the end of the match.

Luis Garcia (the other one) with the only goal on 49', and it holds up for the hosts' first win in an opening round over the last eight seasons. Their in-season move to a new ground is something else to look forward to.

Valencia v. Mallorca about to get going.

Starfish 1.FCN shaded a 2-1 against Augsburg this afternoon - good atmosphere in the stadium and an attendance of 39,700 - not bad. That total will slide dramatically by Christmas I suspect.

As predicted, but sooner. Beautiful day today and just over 30,000 people for a 2-2 draw with Aachen. 0-2 down at half-time - all the goals down our end. An entertaining enough game but 1.FCN looking so much like a team that will play in the second league next season.

In Serie A opening day, MiLOLan lose at home to Bologna, Inter & Roma are held to draws.

Could be a long season for Milan who have taken the wise decision to buy Ronaldinho and Shevchenko to solve their defensive/ageing team problems.

Barca just lost 1-0 away to Numancia, and both Sevilla and Villarreal were held 1-all away to, respectively, Santander and Osasuna.

Atletico off to a flyer, 4-0 winners at home to Malaga. Real play Depor at the Riazor at the top of the hour.

Ibrahim Afellay is certainly one to look out for. He has been tipped for a while to move to one of 'the big 3' leagues and if these goals are anything to go by the talk will simply increase
