Kevin Doyles Right Foot I cba to read the whole of this thread so dunno if anyone has said anything, but we have rejected a 3.5 mill bid from Everton from Hunt, it says so on the SSN.
You haven't missed much by not reading the thread, but you may be interested to hear that we've rejected a bid of 3.5 million from Everton for Hunt.

I hear Everton have put in a bid for a Reading player. Could anyone confirm?

If Everton up the bid to around 5 mil then I'd have to consider it.

I'd be a bit gutted cos we won't then spend the money.

But ordinarily, 5 mil for a Steve Hunt is good business I would think.

It would be great business seeing as he cost nothing. However, I am not interested in business, I am a football supporter and want to watch my team compete every week. I couldn't care less about how many more pounds madejski can drain out of the team for his personal use.

Right now, I think Hunt is probably the player we would least want to lose.

On this basis, I really hope the price on his head is at least £7m and hopefully much more than Everton would pay whether he's worth it or not.

One things for certain. Mr Mad won't spend a single sheckle unless Degas is up for grabs.

If the £5m clause is true then the price on his head is that and no more.

Will be very disappointed to see Hunt go. Personally I don't think he will want to though.

We'd only sell Hunt if we had a replacement lined up. Can't see how the club would ever let Hunt go and go with just Convey on the left. Yeah JM's keeping the purse strings tight, but he's not trying to screw us and Coppell wouldn't get away with not buying anyone this time.

Just shut the window now!!

Even the most loyal of fan would have to admit a move to Everton would be to good to turn down. A much bigger club, Hunty would never get a better move.

Hate to say it, but it is true, even if his brother is here...

Personally I think its crap business.

The club are looking to bounce back up, sell Hunt and that task becomes even harder, especially if the money isn't re-invested, and I doubt with a few hours to go, we'll get a quality replacement.

With Convey playing like he is, come jan when the window is opened, it may mean the gap is too much.

Please SC and JM, tell any club to fack off, he's under contract, be ruthless.

We are led to believe we are building a team for the PL.

He has other interests besides Reading FC. He also has the money to indulge them. As well as Reading Museum, the academy school. etc. He is a 'modern man'.

Why do you think he should put everything into the football club?

Shut the window, lock it, through away the key and draw the curtains.

Good night.

Yep...and the RFC line would be...'He wanted a move, he wanted to play in the Premiership, and we didn't want to stand in his way...'

If Hunt has a clause in his contract that we have to let him speak to any club that offers £5m for him then we'd have no choice, replacement lined up or not

I'd imagine we'd suck it and see for a couple of weeks and then dip into the loan market if the squad looks incapable of without him

Don't forget we've just bought in a left sided player and Golbourn is now getting back to fitness. It's the perfect set of excuses for not replacing him

And that's got to be the truth - haven't you guys learned from the Shorey saga? Do you think it was a good idea to refuse him his move last year, which meant he played half-heartedly for the whole season? Haven't you learned anything about SC's management style?
