Totally agree with Hunty. To further his career he certainly does need to move. He should of gone to a big club like Everton that are ambitious and are an established premier league club.

Although Coppell is saying there was only and enquiry. :?

Stephen Hunt I haven't been a bad apple in the club over the last two or three years.

"I could have been, but I wasn't. I have been ultra-professional and probably deserve a little bit better from them.

Well, Stephen, if you'd have played half decent in the 2nd half of the season you would still be playing in the prem.

'I could have been (a bad apple)'.......the bloody cheek.

'I have been ultra-professional and probably deserve a little bit better from them'.........And who gave you your big break? Ungrateful git.

You can't be angry with Hunty. He's given his all and deserves a move to move to a big ambitious club - something Reading can only dream of being.

Even though he has made these comments I am sure he will continue to perform on the pitch. Whatever happens to him, good luck. Great bloke imo.

Wow...so much for the theory about Hunt being loyal and wanting to stay.

LOL @ Coppell saying they never received any bids...

COPPELL: NO BIDS FOR READING DUO
Posted 02/09/08 12:08 From 365.com:

Steve Coppell says Reading received no deadline day bids for Stephen Hunt and Kevin Doyle.

Republic of Ireland international Hunt was understood to have been the subject of a failed £3.5million offer from Everton before the close of the transfer window.

Though Coppell confirmed speaking to his Everton counterpart David Moyes, he admits there was no concrete bid from the Premier League club.

"I read on Sky we were supposed to have turned down a £3.5million bid for Stephen Hunt, but that was not the case," Coppell told the club's official website.

"I spoke with David Moyes, I think it was Sunday, and he was just making a call regarding a number of players and asking the situation. I explained the situation and never heard from him again.

"Nobody at this club heard from anyone else at Everton, so that was incorrect and just part of a media frenzy."

The Reading boss also admitted that there was no fresh interest in Doyle following the striker's persistent link to Aston Villa.

Coppell added: "We had no positive calls about Kevin Doyle. As always there are agents trying to spark things, but from club to club there was no business.

"Nobody has phoned this club and offered money for Kevin Doyle for weeks."

So, Reading aren't ambitious?

Is that why they turned down a £3.5M bid for a player then?

If they weren't ambitious, I would have thought they would have simply cashed in on a player they plucked from the obscurity of Brentford's reserves for nothing.

If they'd really wanted him they shouldn't have left it until the 1st September.

If he wanted to leave then he should had put in a transfer request earlier, nowadays players are so worried about the loyalty money they might lose out on than being honest.

To be honest, whether he's right or not, he shouldn't be saying something like that right now.

Not the sort of thing you want hear your players saying the day after the window closes.

An interesting one this. I can see where Hunty is coming from but I think he will give his all for the team no matter what.

For both Doyle and Hunt the best policy would be to p*ss all over the championship and show premier league teams what they have missed out on.

That's not going to be a bad thing for us now is it?

Ps - I'm sure there are several players at the bigger championship clubs who are thinking similar things - maybe Kightly at Wolves? Ebanks-Blake, Giles Barnes? I'm sure that Mcfadden isn't happy being in the championship.

Whatever we just have to hope that Hunty and Doyle are like Sidwell rather than Shorey...

"I spoke to the manager (Steve Coppell), the director of football (Nick Hammond), the coaches. They were asking if I wanted to leave, and they knew my stance," explained Hunt.

"I haven't been a bad apple in the club over the last two or three years.

"I could have been, but I wasn't. I have been ultra-professional and probably deserve a little bit better from them.

"But then again, I understand where they are coming from. They wanted to keep hold of me. But to further my career, that would have been a good move."

Can't argue with that. I just hope he gives his all every week for us until we are ready to let him go.

Least we know Hunt was one of the players expressing a wish to leave and that he isn't a 'bad apple'.

I can't see Hunt giving less than 100% effort. Whether or not his recent good form can be maintained while he's distracted is another matter. Let's hope the international break is long enough for him to get his head together.
