winchester_royal Can't quite figure out what the formation will be for that side.

4-4-2

Murty centre back, Spence and Bozanic central midfield, Bignall on the left and Hunt and Mooney upfront

Isn't Spence a RB?

Usually yes, but most decent full backs can fill in a bit in the middle of the park

I misread that as Swansea 3 Reading 0.
Good thing I did read it wrong. :)

Swansea City Reserves continued their poor start to the season with a 3-0 defeat at home to Reading Reserves in the Football Combination Challenge Cup.Pascoe's side opened their campaign with a 4-0 defeat away against Cheltenham at Whaddon Road and things didn't improve tonight.

Swirling winds and torrential rain threatened to put a halt to the game but referee Neil Morgan deemed the pitch playable. It would be Reading who would get the first clear cut chance of the game when Nicholas Bingnall picked up the ball 25 yards out to fire a fierce drive goal wards but Rhys Wilson had the effort well covered. With rain now lashing down on the pitch Andrea Orlandi surged forward down the flank holding off his marker. Reaching the byline the Spaniard whipped the ball into the box but Guillem Bauza could not latch onto ball and the chance passed.

At the other end Oliver Bozanic had the chance to test Wilson in the Swansea goal once more but his shot just went narrowly wide of the upright. Orlandi had the chance to open the scoring just moments later when Joe Allen's pass deflected off the leg of Jillian Kelly into the path of the midfielder, holding off his marker Orlandi dispatched a low shot at Adam Federici in the Royals goal but the shot-stopper had it palmed it out for a corner.

Swansea were now on the front foot and winning a corner put more pressure on the Reading goal. Finding Alan Tate in a congested penalty area Orlandi's cross was turned just over the post by the defender.

Half Time Score:

Swansea City 0-0 Reading

It would be the visitors who would take the lead just after the restart when Julian Kelly broke through the Swansea defensive line to fire coolly past a helpless Wilson. Orlandi had the chance to equalize for the home side after unleashing a low drive but again he was foiled by Federici in the Reading goal. In a moment to forget Defender Albert Serran turned the ball past Wilson to send the visitors into a 2-0 lead after squeezing his last ditch clearance just inside the near post. In truth Swansea never recovered from the two goal deficit and with 2 minutes left on the clock Reading got the third after Bozanic found an extra yard of space in the penalty area to put the ball past Wilson.

Full Time Score:

Swansea City 0-3 Reading

To summarise:
Kelly, Serran and Bozanic scored.
Not sure who this Serran bloke is, though.

I can't believe no one mentioned Kelly's run  I thought he looked good in the pre-season but you never hear of a full back run through like that and put it away... Well except Johnson of Pompey.

papereyes Well, had you ever heard of him before?

Don't you recall Swansea making a big deal out of getting a couple of guys form Espanyol? Albert Serran was one of them, and quite an impact he's making.

Oh and... :| ... whatever that means.

The only one that's made any impact on me was Gorka Pintado, because I had my girlfriends Dad phone me up and ask "wtf? lolz"

Oh and... :| ... whatever that means.

Well at least you typed it right this time. I guess it is a start.

It probably depends on how they play more than if they score or not

Coppell hasn't taken much notice of reserve team form over the last few years anyway, so I don't think it makes much difference either way really
