I'm glad they not only won, but won with 10 goals. After losing our premiership status on goal difference I want to see the team peppering the net as much as possible at every level so they get used to it - even in the reserves.

Matt de K Just got back to work after watching the 1st half albeit the first 5mins. We went in with a 5-0 lead!

Sodje, Mooney, Lita, Lita and Sodje.

Missed Sodje's 1st goal. Mooneys was taken very well - rounded the keeper pretty much with some good footwork. Lita won a pen. Ball crossed across face of goal keeper went for it - Lita took it away from him and got brought down. Lita fetched the ball - placed it down and spanked it into the top corner. Really took it well! Then Mooney and Lita worked really well together with a neat 1-2 and Lita finished again. Then Sodje rounded off the half with an unchallenged header from a corner.

Could have been 8-0 had Lita hit the target with a clear header, but it went just over the bar. And Convey firing well wide after creating himself alot of room - and the keeper actually made a decent save from Lita.

Lewes were rubbish to tell you the truth. Some of their players looked like they were 16, and all were small apart from their right winger

That's all I can tell ya!! Oh and there was about 150-200ish in the east stand

Cheers for the report. I did wonder how good/experienced the Lewes team would be as the first team are struggling in Blue Square Prem and i think several of their players left during the summer following the departure of their manager.

Why are these games being played at the Mad Stad though? Seems a bit strange when the attendance is just 244! They never used to be when we were last in this reserve league did they?

I'm guessing it is a result of Aldershot being promoted to the football league.

Southbank Old Boy Hardly surprising this result

I'd expect our reserves to coast to a comfortably victory over their first team let alone their reserves

Exactly, was expecting at least 5 or 6 at the absolute minimum and thought it could be double figures. Seem to remember us thumping Woking 9-0 a few seasons ago when we were last in this league.

Coming out of the Premiership Reserve leagues means we don't have the same ground stipulations as the last two seasons so there was no need to go as far afield as Aldershot anymore.

Not sure why they've decided to use Madejski as opposed to the likes of Didcot, Thatcham or Newbury. I presume it's to try and make the games as accessible as possible.

We did play at Madejski in this reserve league before though, at least thats how I remember it anyway.

Reserve games in the first year in the Prem were at the Mad Stad, but last season the pitch was relaid so they moved to Aldershot to keep the games on it in the first season to a minimum - it was only going to be for a season so Aldershot's promotion was not relevant.

I am surprised that they don't use the best pitch at Hogwood for Reserve matches. It is built to mirror the Madejski pitch, has barriers around it, and belongs to RFC.

for the same reason they don't allow supporters in to watch training except for special events, namely the planning permission explicitly excluded it.

Surely it's good experience for the reserve team players to get on the Mad Stad pitch. It must be a help to new and younger players.

Lewes stripped out all of their promoted first team and have shipped in a load of scarcely semi-pro players for their first stab at the Conference. they're bottom 3 material and getting worse.

this game tells us absolutely nothing about how good our reserves are , or the relative strengths of the players in that team vis-a-vis their 1st team equivalents

Not been many things to + 1 about this week. One of the slowest HNA weeks on record I'll bet (for the team page anyway)...

I thought you'd gone.

Nice try.

Anyway, the fact that a thread about the reserves has got to 4 pages is indicative that Archie's Penalty is correct and it is, in fact, a slow week.

Just watched one half of Lewes first team game-Setanta again showing all the top football  -and I would suggest that they are worse than our Reserves so regrettably the 10 goals scored the other day has no bearing on anything.
