Midweek games - who's happy they're back?

by Archie's penalty » 13 Sep 2008 17:46

After mourning another away loss - thought I'd be positive. In three days we get the chance to turn things around against Wednesday at the Madejski. I for one am happy to see the return of more midweek games this year. They mean a team who is beaten doesn't have to ponder their inadequacies all week but can go out and prove their doubters wrong quickly. I think Reading will be really up for it after losing so awfully today.

Of course midweek games produce a better atmosphere as well. There's something more exciting about playing under the lights.

I won't be there on tuesday but I'm sure it will be fun. Who's with me?

Any favourite midweek games that people can remember?

I loved the Stockport Reading game on the thursday in 1994. The atmosphere was great and spring was in the air. And we got a good point...

I liked Palace from a few seasons ago - 3-2 win with leroy unleashing an overhead kick.

Nope. Midweek games, battling through gridlocked Reading traffic, are about as much fun as being fingered by Russell Grant.

What if he swaps his hook for something phallic, like an aubergine?

Playing under the lights when there is a really good atmosphere can't be beaten. A few of the play offs and cup games from 4/5/6/7?? seasons ago were mental.

Argh! Don't bring up the "three Walsall games". Still traumatised now.

i work in nslough, and dont finish work till gone 5.30, but if i drive straight to whitley and park up, i always get to the ground with no traffic/parking worries whatsoever, listen to the radio for a bit then grab a pre game beer

teh only time its been a hassle is whej i leave too late, but the same goes for weekend games
