Alan Partridge Noel Hunt again making an absolute mockery of Steve Coppell's selection policy

To be fair to Coppell he's 4 games into the season, has introduced 3 Academy players, two look like they are going to be first teamers for much of the season, he's got N. Hunt now eased into a starting position and is tweaking his CB pairing. That's not bad going from a manager who stuck with the same team for virtually the whole season last year.

By the way, what happened to Ingi....injured or just dropped?

Ingi had a tummy infection that he picked up in the bad-lands of Suffolk last Friday. (According to Coppell)

Stomach problem.

If he recovers, Saturday will be a good test of SC's "don't change a winning team" resolve.

If he plays Ingimarsson then Coppell should be sacked Monday morning

Pearce has been good but he still makes mistakes and was compeletely skinned when they went through one on one i think

overall i see pearce and ingi as equals at the moment, Pearce obviously has the potential to be much better

Thought this was the most one sided game for some time.

My player ratings or observations

USA- little to do but when called upon made a great one on one save at 1-0 and another great save to his right.
Rosenior - did well first half linking with Kebe and he seems to be able to get some good crosses into dangerous areas
Armstrong - pretty solid one very good tackle 2nd half to halt a Wednesday attack
Bikey - strong and a good finish coupled with some nice touches (tired towards the end)
Pearce - impressive performance he is good in the air dangerous at corners when attacking and gets some good tackles in
S.Hunt- felt he was trying to prove something to Royals fans after his reported comments regarding Everton-regularly intercepted balls in midfield when tracking back-good performance
Karachan- Lively performance showing more assurance
Harper- Often don't notice him probably does a lot of work that goes unnoticed
Kebe- Thought he started well and caused alot of confusion but seemed to fade in 2nd half
Doyle- The man's on fire with another hat-trick to add to his international goal- confidence back
N.Hunt- Another good performance has ability to set others up (Doyle's first goal) as well as taking chances himself

Convey-looked lively great first minute on pitch with setting up 6th goal
Long- Control let him down shame header hit bar as he needs a goal
Kelly- Thought he was a full back but good time to come on when you're 6-0 up

Royals fans- Loyals who turned up on a Tuesday night were rewarded
Wednesday fans- Fair play for remaining but no conga although they did have their fat man without his shirt

I think that was the best performance I've seen from Reading in 3 years, absolutely fantastic. Doyle's third goal was the highlight of the night, and the performance from Noel Hunt made me wonder why it has taken this long for him to earn his first league start. He linked up play well and took his goals brilliantly. His brother Stephen was at his best tonight, a performance full of energy, drive and skill, he caused the right back no end of problems. If we can replicate this form away from home then we should be in for a very good season. Come on URZ!

Based on tonight's performance in isolation, he's probably right.

We're inconsistent.
Not average, we have played at either end of the spectrum.
Need to go on a nice unbeaten run, next game away, let's have a decent performance away and I can see the season starting taking some semblance of shape.

Just brilliant.

Slight disappointment in Kebe's performance, but even then he stretched Wednesday's already overstretched defence.

Karacan was pretty good.

A very good post. I so hope Saturday brings us a good result. His changes show that Coppell is doing what he does best - think...

That was one of the WORST defensive displays I have ever seen but a professional football club, I am speechless. In that first half, we looked more likely to score when they had the ball, they just kept shooting themselves in the foot.
Job done on our behalf but two points stand out for me, firstly, what would of happened if they had scored that one on one right after our first? Would of been a different game. Secondly, how much of that was us playing well or Wednesday being so bad they gave us the game?

I wish our fans would stop bating opposition fans, wednesday fans didn't sing one aggressive chant at us all night and jsut supported their team( even though they were terrible) yet we insisted on goading them, why? We at least had some respect to clap their big lad when he left 10 mins before the end. We come off as a right bunch of gobby spoilt cockneys at times.
