Its being gradually rolled out stand by stand over the season. UW(North) was first and UW(South) is about to start. They have not said what the order will be after that but I assume it will be LW then North then East.

Maybe they plan to include the whole of the South anyway. You dont have to have a member card. You can obtain a Quick Pay card on the day.

However, that just makes more queues! Surely you could put it on the ticket? no.. thats a stupid idea

Reliably informed this was another mockery of a sham in the Upper West again. People paying for items and their cards being drained of all their credit, no balance display on the tills means that you don't realise until you have to go and check it at another machine. Ridiculous that the till shows how much is being deducted but not the balance left on the card after, they could be ripping you off left right and centre

I'm now ready for this cash free zone. I've been practising not spending any money there, although I did have to get a round in at HT on Saturday. But that will be coming to an abruptive end when these fobs come over to the East Stand, and I can officially say that RFC will not be getting any of my money when it eventually does.

Incompetant staff = queues
Incompetant staff + everyone having to queue for their own beers = longer queues

I said on the Wolves back from the match thread.

Bottled beers are the way forward. Consistent quality/taste/fizz. No pouring = fewer staff required = better staff (?).

Fewer mistakes. Quicker service.

Yep upper west at the Burnley game- about 8 staff at the snack counter, sadly none of who could operate the machines. Further comedy value ensured by the fact 5 of them didn't really speak that good english. One guy after being in the queue for 15 minutes decided to give some rather direct customer feedback. Got to the front to be told by one of the three that could that, "it would be ok if we could still use cash"

Mate was in the upper west and spent 20 minutes at half time trying to get served without success. That stand wasn't even full so imagine the farce when they try it with bigger numbers!

Can't be ar$ed to read through all of this thread but are you able to pay cash to the mobile FOSTERS sellers? Or have they dispense with that completely?

Either crap equipment or badly programmed/set up. The display on ours at work show amount before deduction, amount deducted and amount after deduction. You can also have a printed receipt with the same info.

Mind you, our system uses the Mifare chip, details of hacking which have just been released after the manufacturers failed in a their legal attempt to prevent the information being released. If RFC are using the same chip for our member cards, they may have to rethink their approach to cashless vending sooner than they would have hoped!

to be honest last night in the upper west was an absolute sham.

Normally we drink in the holiday inn before the game, but seeing as i was on crutches i wanted to miss the crowds and get up to the concourse quickly. From what I saw the staff were being taught how to use the computers when the turnstiles opened at 6 30. This is no way to prepare.

Before going to the game we checked our account and had £48 on the card, upon arriving at the tills we were told we only had £8. SO we thought we hadn't read it properly and topped up with £20. I then checked the reader and said we now had £68. They had no idea how to fix this, and if people came to the game with no cash expecting to pay on their card they would have been knackered.

Also, the first few pints of lager had line cleaner in them. They had obv taken the chance to clean the lines but not run water through afterwards and then run beer back through it. God it was foul

Are RFC being informed of these "problems/training issues/software issues/retardness"??

I hope so for future queue's sake & when it gets to the East there are a few customers there who have no issue voicing there feelings.

As for myself prepping up for this shambles of an idea - I went back on my word last night, due to extreme hunger and went to buy a pie. Asked for a S&K but the non-english guy came back and said "shoryrtyyy dheeersxxxs nonnn, aounly cuuuurnishee phassstii & helbbitrables"

I said "What??????"

He repeated

I said "I don't like the sound of any of those"

But i did get a Coke at HT. This, in comparison to the beer, was just as shit.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it until it's resolved - it doesn't matter if the food and drinks were free - there'd still be frigging great queues because the mongs who serve it have no idea what you're asking for half the time. "Half a lager please?" "half a lager???" "yes please" "HALF a lager?" "that's right" "half a LAGER" "YES" - goes off to mumble to another mong who then tells him that lager = FOSTERS and proceeds to pour me one. Then I make the mistake of asking for a pint of cider and the mong rings up for a bitter. So I say "no - a pint of cider please" "oh cider" "yes, that's right" "cider?? what is cider? Hey <insert name of yet another mong> cider??" Then the other guy points to the word cider on the till and also on the price display board and then has to ask someone else to pour out a pint of cider. Amazingly, my order for white wine was conducted without incident although I had lost the will to live by then.

I presume they pay these servers about 10p an hour, because it surely can't be difficult to find people who actually understand what the small variety of alcoholic drinks they serve actually are. And, here's a thought, before putting them straight on the tills, why don't they give them a bit of training, so they understand what they are being asked for and know where it is and what it is? Radical.
