Archie's penalty What about 'He's Turkish, he's small, he always gets the ball, Jem Karacan.'?

To the tune of the Cantona song.

Technically, he's English. He qualifies for Turkey through his father. He was born in London and raised in Berkshire (not sure exactly where though).

He plays for Turkey under-19's though right?

It could be 'He's speedy, he's small, he always gets the ball - Karacan, Karacan.'

I like it anyway!

Karacan-can-can,
He's our local kebab man,
Karacan-can-can,
He's our midfield magician,
To the left,
To the right,
Try his doner meat tonight,
He does halal of course,
You should try his chilli sauce

From the ancient past, 'Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky Mick and Titch' had a hit with a song called Zabadak, which infilled with appropriate lyrics scans perfectly with 'Karacan' as an example:-
"Karacan, scoring for Reading, it's Karacan, KARACAN!" "Karacan fly, fly Karacan" :)

...to the tune of 'where's your caravan', this just about scans..

(Tune - When the saints go marching in)

We scored a goal,
that never was,
We scored a goal that never was
it went 4 foot past the goal post
We scored a goal that never was...

It was this kind of chanting that got 'Number 13 - Reading fans everywhere' removed from the squad line up pre-match.

AMEN

Agreed- though the second to last line doesn't fit. Perhaps: "Halal? But of course!"

For the third line you could sing 'He takes on defenders with glee'...

The second line would work better if it was 'we got him pretty much for free.'

Yes, but we all like to pop in a swear word and I think it makes it a tad more amusing.

As for the 'for' I missed. I blame the vino

Agree - this is one of the best "proposed" new songs written on here for ages and could catch on. All it will take is a group of people sitting together to get this started then it'll catch on, and I think it'll do well...
