Seaside Royal A lot of us have been saying that Coppell knows what he's doing and it's a great feeling as things start to come together... but I do wonder if people still think COPPELL OUT!

IMO we're heading for the top by Christmas.

Certainly he seems to be shaping another very good team.

Gunnarsson coming back has helped a lot but is this our best team now?

Archie's penalty
SpaceCruiser Still no progress then, Schards?

A quite big lol at Schards then eh?

Let's keep it calm though. One game at a time.

Oh absolutely, I've always been of the belief in taking it one game at a time. I'm always thinking straight after a game about who we've got next.

Now who have we got this Saturday....ermmm....erm...*checks the fixture list*

The fact that RFC won will of course totally outweight the facts that Schards will 1. come back to a further ribbing on HNA and 2. see his potential winnings from betting on Reading to go down virtually disappear down the plughole.

Back in the real world, he will of course deny it until he's blue in the face and chuck a few choice insults out, but everyone knows that in some small measure he will not have taken as much pleasure in this marvelous victory as the rest of us, a result of the above factors.

And that's a real shame.

It could be a bigger test than tonight's game, as we now are now facing a bow wave of complacency.

It's funny. I'm just thinking about this and I don't know if I can remember a more entertaining first ten games of the season.

We have been scoring for fun and every game is an adventure.

I thought this season was going to be mediocre and scrappy. I never knew we'd give so many teams hidings.

9 games in and we have won 2-0, 4-2, 6-0, 4-0 and 3-0. We've drawn two away games 2-2. And in the cup we've won 5-1.

By my reckoning that's 32 goals in 12 games.

A ridiculous goal scoring total!

But we're at home and on a roll, cant see too many teams thinking they'll come to the Mad Stad for 3 easy points

They were ribbed when they were wrong, they're giving some of it back now the boot is on the other foot.

Seems fair enough to me.

Sebastian
oxf*rd grow up - Schards actually doesn't give a toss what you think, and you're not impressing anyone by stalking him here there and everywhere over the fact that he has different opinions to you about certain things. Have a word with yourself.

In all fairness, everyone is stalking this thread.

All I'm saying is that the season's not over yet. The RTGs made their assurances last season that we would stay up, the STGs expressed concerns which were proved to be justified. This season, the STGs have expressed concerns about the prospects of going up and the RTGs are ridiculing them whilst we're doing well. Let's just wait and see. January will certainly be interesting and test this club's ambitions. Needless to say, as an STG I hope I'm proved wrong.

That post really demonstrates how little you know me.

I'm absolutely delighted with the result, as I always am if Reading win. If I lose my bet with Juanpablo, that's absolutely fine, i'd rather see Reading finish top six than not. I would suggest that he doesn't make promises to his family about christmas just yet though as the fundamentals regarding the chairman, manager and senior players don't change. If we go up it will be in spite of these obsticles.

As for being mocked by the resident board idiot Woodcote.

a) isn't this the brain doner who told the world he had me on ignore?

b) isn't this the brain doner who was braying through his spittle frothing mouth that Coppell was useless and making all the wrong decisions, isn't this the moron who was saying he'd stop going to games, isn't this the moron who sat in his car outside the ground waiting for the team to be announced for the Palace game because he was going to go home and taking his ball with him if the selection didn't meet his approval?

Whilst I have voiced reservations about our prospects, I haven't criticised Coppell's abilities, more the state of mind that, I believe, will lead him to leave sooner rather than later regardless of the outcome of this season.

Woodcote remians out on his own as the main contender for "idiot of the year" at this year's end of season "Woodies" awards for stupidity, idiocy and all round total ignorance about anything to do with the sport of football.

IF we are in a rather good position in January that will can only count for the club in their efforts to retain Harper, Doyle, Hunt etc. Obviously if one of the bigger sides comes in it won't make much difference but if it's a struggling side making the bid we hopefully will be OK.

Whatever happens Reading FC know the situation and at the very least they must know already who they would want to bring in as replacements.
