Wycombe Royal But he won't get in the starting lineup. Regardless of who is the better player, the best PARTNERSHIP we have seen for a long while is Doyle and NHunt. Let's just hope it is still the best partnership at the start of February.

Kitson and Doyle showed for a spell last season, around Christmas time and the West Ham game when Gunnarsson got sent off, that they can do to the Premiership what Hunt and Doyle are doing to the Championship. Their problem scoring after the new year wasn't down to the partnership not working, it was down to the whole side and the attitude that was crippling performances.

For that reason alone I wouldn't say Hunt and Doyle are proven to be better than Kitson and Doyle, but it would be great to replace Lita with Kitson and have three frontline forwards plus Long and Mooney as backup.

I wouldn't say it at all - its not to say that they could not, at some future point, prove to be better.

But even someone of the same mould as Kitson would significantly improve our options - just to give the attack another dimension. Kitson has moved on, we need to look at someone with the same potential.

Kitson would be an ideal player to bring in should we lose Doyle. Providing the rest of the squad would be happy to see him return. Experienced, proven and a few years left in him yet.

I struggle to see us paying for him if Doyle doesn't go, but he is way way better than Lita and Long, almost certainly better than Mooney and IMO better than both Doyle and Hunt.

He'll work really well with an inform Doyle same as he will with an inform Hunt.

I could see Kitson playing in blue and white hoops again come January - just not ours.

That's in The Championship-I would love to see Doyle and Kitson together again and we are always told that there is money available so...........loan till January,Doyle stays and we head on back up to The Premiership.
If we do go up this season we will have to buy players anyway to have any chance of survival and we know what he can do.
IIRC Senior did well when he came back from a higher level club so why wouldn't Kitson?

If I was Coppell, I would not be interested, not at all.
He made the decision, he wanted to play for Stoke, his choice, no one forced him.
We've moved on, replaced and that's the way to remain.

Might just serve as a warning to some of the other apparent "want aways" that the grass isn't always greener, more money or not.

As I mentioned here:

http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=78433#p1844538

It was apparant from talking to him that something was wrong from the start. When I went back to my seat MrS&R asked what was wrong, and I said to him that I thought he didn't want to leave. It just didn't seem right at the time, and the look on his face said more than any words.

Platypuss I can think of 5 million reasons why it won't happen.
I could see the club effectively trading Doyle for Kitson if there were a couple of million to be made out of it (e.g. Doyle to Spurs for 7.5, Kitson to Reading for 5). I could see it, but i wouldn't expect it.

hmm seems like the grass wasn't greener on the other side, having only won 1 game out of 7 and not living up to expectations, was he really worth all that money? i wonder how many goals he would've scored if he would've stayed

http://oatcakefanzine.proboards27.com/i ... read=46907

'i'm not surprised about the kitson news

i was sat in the main stand with the home fans at anfield, right near to where tp was sitting

the fans in the home end were so quiet you could hear the players talking/shouting quite easily.

after about 20 mins during a break in play kits came over shouting at TP. i didn't hear all of it, but the words 'i've got no f****** support were included'

i'm not surprised he wants to leave, we're hanging him out to dry against top class players, he'll be lucky to score a goal this season with the service he gets. he probably thinks he needs to move to save his career

i like Kits, he's a good honest pro'

WEll, knowing how he likes to talk to the press and get his points of view across, I'm sure if there's no truth in it, he'll say so.

Only good reason for having him back - getting rid of Lita. But TBH, im happy to stick with Long and the unknown Mooney.

But its a none starter. He'll Never be back, and we dont need him.

I like Dave Kitson and I'm sure he would rather be here. If Stoke were to look to unload him, however, they would probably want to recoup about £3 million. Therefore he won't come to us, we won't pay that sort of money.
