He came off the bench and set up a goal in that Ireland B game last night.

Basingstoke Royal
brendywendy
Basingstoke Royal There have been so many times this season where he has given up too easily.

He isnt giving 100% - fact.

Could you imagine Long going for the header that Noel scored on Saturday - not in a million years.

He is a good squad player to come off the bench - nothing more at the moment.

everyone knows lower case facts arent worth the espace theyre written on son

what you need is an upper case FACT

like the FACT that shane long gives 110% every game

He gives about 80%. Shane Long in the Championship winning side gave 100%.

Now he thinks he is something he is not - and when things arent going well he throws the shirt on the floor.

Could we just have a quick brief on the method of measurement that you are employing, the experimentation that you have done etc to justify that fact? Or maybe, just maybe, you are expressing an opinion and, in the oft used style of the bigot, assuming that your opinion is fact?

I haven't a clue how much effort SL is putting in - no more than you have - fact (oops, but that is a fact)

Still, after his years here 'developing', his first and second touch is, well, shit.

He is a nice lad but not good enough to take us forward. A decent option on the bench at the very best. I cringe when he starts!

Agreed that he has the touch of a rapist. If he wants to further his career though I suggest that he moves elsewhere. I can see him quite easily getting into a lower Championship side.

Well he hasn't done so in 3 years so I'd forget the fact and insert 'I hope'.

For the last 18 months Long has contributed more than Lita. His first touch is often horrible but he does create things, puts himself about a bit (a lot) and shows pace that defenders find hard to cope with, particularly when coming on late.

Lita has done none of the above in similar measures for a long time; in fact he has contributed too little for too long for it to be a simple loss of form.

Agreed, but I was surprised to see him score 3 goals for Charlton when he went there on loan last season, which proves he can still do it...just not with us.

Exactly. He's definately a Championship player but his future does not belong with Reading FC.

and when things arent going well he throws the shirt on the floor.

When lineos (seen singing YNWA before matches) are giving fouls against him for being fouled, he throws his shirt on the floor. Important difference.

Archie's penalty
Victor Meldrew The shame about both Noel and Shane in my view is that they can't hold the ball up when played from the back and their heading ability is only apparent when they attack the ball.

 I think Hunt holds the ball up better than any of our strikers.

He's as strong as an ox.

Bikey is as strong as an ox.
N Hunt is by comparison about as strong as a calf.
N Hunt has so far done o.k but IMHO not enough to warrant the adulation that some posters already give.
For the moment though I think he deserves his place in the side but I just wish we had the alternative option of a different type of striker to what we now have-none of whom are over 6ft .
What I would like is a bull of a striker to rough up defenders and provide the different option from the bench-he doesn't need to be an ox though.

BTW very impressed with young Church last night for Wales U21s taking his limited chances well against an England defence with Premiership experience-it makes me wonder why we bothered to get Mooney.
