1. Pompey will go for someone who isn't in a job at the moment because of compensation issues

2. Coppell would not be interested

3. He's the wrong man for the job and anyone with football knowledge would know that

Non story.

Tut tut, for an attempted wind up, it fails with poor English grammar.

I have a feeling they'll keep Tony Adams and Joe Jordan, simply cos it'll be cheaper for them!

Of all the Prem jobs I must say I could see Coppell going to Portsmouth, quite a lot going for it down there and he wouldn't neccesarily have to move, not a Newcastle where the pressure is intense/totally ridiculous and you are on a hiding to nothing as they expect the impossible. Pompey will finish in the top 10, are in Europe still? Good squad close to home. Not sure he's quite 'high profile' enough for their owner in all honesty. I can see them giving Adams and Jordan a few games at least, maybe even till the end of the season or going for Curbishley. I saw Allardyce as favourite but i can't see that happening. Curbishley is a decent bet.

I too thought Allardyce but on reflection, given their financial situation, I'm not sure he would fancy it. Still, he desperately wants / needs to get back into management and I would certainly put him above Coppell in the likely list.

Tony Adams must be favourite presumably?

its not such a stupid idea. Of any of the prem teams i think would suit Coppell the most, and i wouldn't be suprised to see him go there.

Coppell, who revels in building teams around young unknown hungry players well suited to a team stuffed full of high wage, high profile players quite a few of whom have a bit of a history behind them ?

It's hard to see any way in which there is a good match between them !

Although perhaps in a couple of years time Pompey may be in need of a manager who can get teams out of the Championship on a budget....

As much as I like Tony Adams, is he the right choice as a number one? Didn`t do a great deal as Wycombe boss, he seems a very competent assistant boss/ coach but I think Pompey will make a mistake if they appoint him as manager. I personally think they can`t go wrong with Alan Curbishley.
