i think coppell may sit him and down and explain that if we are still in the run-in for promotion in jan he won't be allowed to go. However, if we fail to get promoted then he can go at the end of the season.

I'd be more worried about hunty leaving than doyle

Villa encouraged in pursuit of Reading striker Doyle

15.10.08 | tribalfootball.com
Reading striker Kevin Doyle has welcomed interest from Aston Villa.

Doyle is top of Villa boss Martin O'Neill's January shopping list.

The Republic of Ireland star said: "You know what you have to do to get back to the top level."

No, they aren't you fukking twats. What a stupidly misleading title to an article that doesn't really say a lot. Those fukking chumps.

Hope your right but I expect Villa will sign him come the New Year.

No, I know I'm right, where in that article has Doyle been quoted as saying "Yes please, Mr O'Neil, sign me!" :?: The title of their article is bullshit.

Do you mean he should do that now?

That might not be the best way to motivate a player to perform between now and Jan.

andrew1957 We cannot begrudge him a move but if he carries on scoring for fun I hope we hold out for £10M. Why accept any less as he is still in contract for another 18 months.

I also hope we then re-invest at least half of it!

£10 million for a player that has only scored in three games out of eleven, in the Championship, seems a lot to me to be honest...

Yeah but in those 3 games he scored 8 goals. Which shows - with the right supply, he Can do it.

So what was wrong with the supply in the other eight games then?

Probably nothing in it, but...

Wigan set to splash £8m on Reading striker Kevin Doyle

By Alan Nixon

The Mirror 26/11/2008

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... -20925478/

Wigan boss Steve Bruce is to switch his striker search to Reading's Kevin Doyle.

Latics have been told to cough up £8million for the Republic of Ireland star, but are still interested.

Cristian Benitez, of Mexican side Santos Laguna, was the top target, but has been ruled out with an injury.

Doyle signed a new Royals deal recently and is leading their promotion push, but a Prem return will appeal.

Royals will not want to lose him, but Wigan have the cash and the need as Bruce digs in for survival.

Mirror makes up more rubbish rumours shock!

Why would we let KD go for even £8M when we don't need the money and promotion is worth so much more.

Also why would Doyle want to go and have ton face yet another relegation struggle - my bet is he would rather play for us in the PL next season. Or else he will take a move at the end of the season if we don't go up - there should be no shortage of takers then.

'greed.
in the programme against Derby County, there was an interview with Doyle and he explained how he made the decision to stay at Reading and one of the reasons was that his girlfriend works in the town and his family lives in Reading, or something along those lines. There will always be one paper digging at something that isn't there. It's the media for you.

Have to agree there is never any truth in what is written in the sports pages, likely that Heskey will leave in Jan so theres one big gap there for Wigan.

As for not wanting a relegation struggle, unless you are top 4 then there will always be the chance of a relegation struggle in the Prem, ask newcastle and Spurs, they may not have gone down, but they have struggled. Even Everton were close jsut a few seasons ago.

Doyle will go if it is right for him, not for RFC, simple as, same as any footballer in demand.

Everton to Raid

by Gunny Fishcake » 01 Dec 2008 11:39

What odds Doyle going to Everton now they have Yacubu out for the season and Saha crocked too ? There's just a horrible inevitability about it , not forgetting Hunt too .

Was my exact thoughts when I heard the news too.

If he tells Coppell he wants to go and Everton make an acceptable offer he will be off.
