Wycombe RoyalRoyal Lady Was he asked to stay?
Coppell said we didn't want him to leave and that it was his own choice to accept the Swindon offer.

chandogbottom left hand corner Just wondering if we have a deal with him if we want to sign him back then we have first approval. As he is doing very well at Swindon after getting a hat-trick today surely we must want him back if Doyle goes in January or end of season.
the main question there is does cox wnat to come back?
he was pretty much forced out of the club as he got no first team chances and was constantly out on loan
the club gave no indication that he was wanted so why would he want to come back now when he is getting opportunities at swindon?

Half true.
Coppell didn't want him to go but when he demanded a new contract on incredibly unrealistic terms to stay, they had no choice. He did it just to see what he could get out of the club as he knew he wouldn't get into the first team for a year at least. Horses mouth.

Absolutely spot on mate, we can't blame the club or Coppell for this.

Could've given him more of a chance so as to not force him into wanting to leave.
Coppell has admitted he relied on his trusted players too much last season. If he'd let Cox have the chance his brief appearances for the first team, and consistent form whilst on loan and in the reserves, probably deserved he probably wouldn't have seen the need to move on.
All a bit of a shame really.

SpaceCruiser If he's a Reading fan, then why is he playing for the Swindles?

It's called a career.
The way this lad is going, Swindon will want seven figures come January, and I don't think we'd be sniffing at that sort of price if in fact we were interested.
14 goals and 2 hat-tricks is quite something though. Definitely a Championship player soon.
