Do you see Promotion to the Premier League a possibility?

by SteveRoyal » 29 Oct 2008 15:04

Okay, so now that we've had our fair share of home and away games this season, and entertaining the Championship with multiple goal-fests, do you see promotion a realistic ambition this season?

Personally, I do. I don't know why but I get the feeling that we'll sort out our away form soon and something will click. We've seen Wolves drop points, as well as Birmingham. There's still a chance.

URZZZZZZZZZZ. :)

It's possible. Sort out our away form and we will be flying. Last 2 home games seem to be an onomoly and hopefully we can sort that out against Derby which we will be a very hard game as they are on form at the momment. The players need belief because as we have seen on occasions this season we can just walk through teams.

Not only will we get promoted, we will also get 107 points & 100 goals.

And the current team is better than 05/06.

Apparently.

Reading are definitely good enough to win this league - however the right team selection will be the deciding factor - if Coppell stays too loyal to players who are underperforming we won't get automatic.

Also I think that the January window could be our defining moment - lose Doyle and Hunt, and I think play offs at best.

Birmingham still to have their bad run , Wolves too inconsistent although they are top of league - that was due to a good start but since Reading game they have been hit and miss - and they are the two that will determine whether we go up automatically or we have to try through play-offs

Cardiff look a strong side to me. They've started turning their early season draws into victories now and look like the sort of side capable of grinding out points over a 46 game season.

I've been pleasantly surprised by us to be honest. I expected us to be in and around the play-off situation come the end of the season but we've adapted a lot quicker and better than i thought.

"yes" and "need to improve" are not mutually exclusive options there.

I believe we can challenge this season. Even get promoted.

Nothing is impossible, many things are unlikely.

Realistically I think if current form for all teams in our league continues we'll be in with a shout right up until the last day of the season, probably via the playoffs.

Surely if it continues like this we will end up 4th, and in the play offs, no if or buts about it.

January sales of star assets, inevitable failure in the play offs prompting a four page Evening Post pull out featuring pictures of face-painted goons in jester's hats crying. I forecast relegation early on last season too, so pay heed.

Hopefully can still snatch a play off place, but seriously depends on how loosing Hunt and Doyle and possibly others affect us, and how quickly we can adapt to that. But we do need to start improving away.

Didn't you do the same thing the year before?

Loads of people seem to have missed the fact that despite recent results, we haven't actually dropped a single place since the international break ended.

Yes we've lost ground on the leading two and yes others are catching us, but it's early days and we're still very much in the running for the division. We need to ditch the poor form and get a winning streak going. Plus get rid of the woeful away form. But we're still in 3rd, people. It's not all doom and gloom yet.
