Just because he's black, it doesn't mean he's Ludacris.

Nick Shorey my Lord! I don't want him, he's just too naughty by nature.

I'd quite like him back as when he's on form he's a big punisher of opposition defences

True, he can be often be defenders public enemy number 1.

As a player, Lita constantly needs to feel and be told that he is brilliant, fantastic, the greatest player ever etc etc etc; fail to do that, and he sulks and is prone to introspection.

Therefore, IF you want to get the best out of Lita, not only start with him, but give him constant TLC.

Sadly, he simply isn't going to get that at Reading - and nor will he at any Premiership clubs either; the reason he has been a success at his loan clubs is because he starts every game, the fans adore him from the off (cos he is a new striker with a good reputation for scoring goals) his new team mates look to him as someone a bit special and his fragile ego goes massaged exactly as it needs in order for him to produce the goods.

However, IF Doyle goes, then Leroy may come into his own with us after all..... but I suspect he will go in January, either on a season long loan to someone, or permanently.

Which is a typical response from shortsighted fans.

Everyone should know that Long still hasn't fulfilled his potential and that, with every passing week his future at this club looks in greater doubt. But as cr@p a he has been for much of the time (and certainly not all) he remains a better bet on our bench than Lita.

Has Lita ever scored when coming off our bench?

Since you mention shortsighted - did you not see Alan Partridge's post immediately above yours? Did you not read your answer there or perhaps he's on your 'ignore' list!

As for Long, what is his potential? How do you define something like that and, if the answer isn't clear, how does everyone know he hasn't fulfilled his potential? Or do you really mean that Long still hasn't delivered what is required in that position?

They wouldn't send Leroy out on a season long loan though as he's out of contract at end of season isn't he? If that's the case we'd have to sell him in January.

My 50 cents is that he still has a role to play at the club. Although Coppell seems to see him as an outkast, the stint at Norwich is proving he can rake one in from time to time. Do we really want to have to snoop around for some other bad boy, when they aren't exactly common? Mos definitely not.

One player who may be back in contention for a start is Leroy Lita after the striker completed a highly successful three-month loan spell at Norwich City.

“There is no defined situation with Leroy,” said Coppell. He has come back and wants to play.

“If this was the last league game on Saturday then he probably wouldn’t play, but we will have a chat and see what his intentions are and sort them out between us.”

Not sure what to take from that, but looks like Leroy might be playing saturday.

Where did you hear that? Guess it makes sense with Chopra running back to Sunderland just so he don't have to face the wrath of the travelling Royals fans on saturday :D

I am guessing, as you say Chopra goes back to Sunderland, looking at Bothroyd and what a partnership he and Lita could have, lived down that way while at Bristol C, all makes a lot of sense. David Jones is good with players like Lita, he can ignore the bad side and bring out the better side for the team and club.

The further Lita is from RFC the better IMHO.I Just think that team unity has been a primary mover of our success in recent years and the relative absence of over inflatated egos has assisted with the collective all for one one for all spirit .
It only takes one nutter to ruin a party.

My guess is his departure has been a done deal for some time.

Having said all that if the powers that be and Lita decide he`s coming fully back on board and he does the biz then with great relish I shall swallow my words.

I know this argument has been done to death on hobnob but it still really annoys me when people go on about Leroy's attitude. He does have an arrogant strut, but a lot of good strikers need that arrogance. He may not be SC's favourite player, but SC has said numerous times that he has no problem with Leroy's attitude. What are people basing Leroy's attitude on? He got into a few fights in clubs. How many pleyers have done that? Quite a few. When Leroy broke his leg, all the players wore thoose "Do it for Leroy" t shirts. I know thats not massive but they would hardly do that for a player who is a bad influence, they must like him.

In his first 2 years at the club, Leroy was out of the team and he didnt moan because the players in front of him were doing the business. I can see where Leroy was coming from last year, considering the rubbish that the strikers in front of him were providing.

Hes been on loan to Charlton and Norwich neither one of those managers have had any problems with him. We all know from his time here, that Pards was a right disciplinarian and he had no problems with Leroy. I doubt SC would give a "bad apple" to one of his best friends in football.

I dont think leroy should start but he should be on the bench. He's had a successful loan spell at the level we are competing.

Also people talk about attitude. A couple of years ago JT was involved in a fight in a club, and now Gerrard aswell. So the England captain and vice captain have both been involved in incidents. Does that mean they will be damaging team spirit and should be kicked out of their respective clubs?

Well said the bloke has just been killed off by the fans and many don't seem to remember how well he has played in the past. All players go through bad patches and need some support through that, personally any club picking him up for less than 1 million has got a bargain. By far a better player than Shane Long and yet we continue to ignore him, just hope he doesnt go to a championship club and hurts us in getting promotion.

That goal he scored against Middlesborough to make it 3-2 was probably the most important goal of the season.

Good points. :) I sometimes forget how young some of these players are. We've probably all done stupid things and shown poor judgement in our earlier days - at least speaking for myself - it's just that as these guys are in the public eye, any incidents tend to get highlighted and magnified.
