'The pure cynic in me says this now bumps his price up even more in January!!!

However even if that is the case, it's still very good news!. 8)

Who says footballers are mercenaries now? I'd agree with them in general, which is why I'm beginning to fall in love with Doyle now. If he wanted to Doyle could have held out for a massive rise in January with a Premiership club but instead he's showing great loyalty to us and trying to get us back up to the Premiership. He's paying back the loyalty we showed him when we signed him from Cork and the loyalty Coppell showed him on his barren run last season. Not many players would be so honourable and professional. On his was to becoming a Reading LEGEND!

I'm really surprised, would have thought he'd have at least waited till January. Great news though. He'll prob be shite for the rest of the season now :wink:

99% of the way there in this cynical, mercenary age. The other 1% comes on 1st February when (if?) he's still with us.

Let's all pull together and follow Kev's example in doing our utmost to get this team back in the Premier League.

Fantastic news and I would guess any clause will be activated if we aren't promoted next summer.

That certainly shows his commitment to the club and also allows them to adjust the "release" figure so, and I am as Cynical as most, while the outward news is encouraging inwardly I suspect its a case of RFC covering it's tail come January, but I must say that I have never heard of Doyle making waves to get away maybe he is one of those strange players who is, dare I say it "happy" where he is ? if so we should have him stuffed and mounted ouitside the ground when he retires !!

<cynic mode>

Just an excuse for Madejski to parade him around the pitch and boost his own ego. He'll be off in January anyway.

This actually means that the 8000 extra seats JM was going to add to the stadium have been bought up by Doyle and will be installed in his back garden.
