Ponderosa Florida

by sawyers left arm » 13 Nov 2008 02:54

I am currently in Florida and took the family to a Ponderosa on the 192 today. The restaurant is loaded with football scarves from every division and there was even an Abington Town scarf up. I am delighted to say a Reading scarf was up there but an old one. Anyone coming out soon please bring a champions 2006 scarf. Anyone been to this restaurant past marker 13 heading towards Gatorland? Fantastic place to visit and makes you feel at home amongst football scarves not NBA, NFL etc

I'll be there next year, and will pinch my son's scarf to take there.

I must admit that whenever I have been abroad to places where football fans can leave shirts/scarves etc. It is very rare that I ever see RFC items on display. Perhaps our fan base is just too middle of the road, not enough passion that they wish to display the fact that RFC woz ere

More likely we're mostly too tight to leave it there, or in true Kitson wording, it's cheap tat that's fallen apart.

A couple of years ago (on the 192) If you wandered up to towards the top of it, away from where you are, you would get to a bar called JT's. In there they had signed shirts and scarves including a Reading one. Also the waiter who served us noticed my Dad's RFC polo shirt and asked if we were from Reading. Turned out he was originally from Tilehurst before moving out there and is also Frank Orton's nephew.

We went back there last year but sadly they must have sold up because it's now a bike workshop as well as a bar. Still quite a cool place but not as good!

I was in Cannes last year in an Irish bar and there was a Reading shirt signed by none other than Leroy 'Flash in the Pan' Lita. Apparantly his brother holiday's there and got it done.

The Quays just before you get to the Croisette?

I was in there a couple of weeks ago. If I'd known there was a Leroy shirt I'd have, quite literally, shrugged my shoulders and walked off.

Or maybe we don't all take our shirts and scarves on holiday with the intention of putting in a bar :|

Yes, I've been there, prefer Sizzlers myself. (2nd mention for Gatorland this week...)

Walk into my Tyre store in Sydney Australia and you will see a signed 2004 Reading FC shirt hanging in a prominent position. Touch it at your peril!!!

I prefer the Golden Corral when in Florida. I can report they have no football tat of any kind!
