Rev Algenon Stickleback H .......

It can be even more bizarre overseas. If Reading followed what seems to almost be a tradition now it Germany, you'd get the goal music followed by the PA & crowd going...

PA: And Reading's goal scored by Kevin....
Crowd: Doyle!
PA: and the score is Reading...
Crowd: 3
PA: Derby...
Crowd: nil.
PA: Thank you.

Why do so many Germans speak English when they're at matches?

I'm sure a lot of people who join in wouldn't care if it the celebration music was turned off. It does really irritate me more than it should. I just dislike anything that makes the experience of going to the game more artificial. I wouldn't mind if they got rid of the telly as well, but I do look at the goal replays.

Flash
paultheroyal I thought atmosphere was rubbish to be honest. Derby outsung us / better banter etc etc......

Agreed, thought the atmos was pretty dire yesterday. You could hear it on the Championship. People trying desperately to get something going but noone helping out and everything dying out so quickly. Its just embarrassing.

Yesterday, I thought Y25 were good but quieter than normal. Though North East corner by the drummers was very good but everyone so many people in the North Stand are about 50+ and all far too polite to join in with these reprehensible hooligan chants.

Think the PA guy helps a bit, but I hate the pre match music. It doesn't even rise to a crescendo like the Requiem one. Instead it just dies out as the teams come out. Whet ever happened to the universal 'U RRRRRRRRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ'?

really need to change that gay drumming video
so much better with the music from before

I saw them the other day and their goal music was Ghostbusters. Maybe each player selects his own?!

Deadlock
Great Knolly One of the reasons that music was brought in was to surpress the mood of the crowd back in the hooligan days of the 70s and 80s. It was an attempt to stop the singing before the game. Before that, the crowd built the atmosphere, no need for piped anthemic dance tracks or Carmina Burana

Incidentally, does anyone know what music is played before the teams come out?

I like Tom Hark, and judging by the crowd after goals the vast majority of our fans do too.

If you played "YMCA", the plebs would dance to that too.

Only if STAR print dance sheets for those of us not familiar with all the moves.

"Back The Boys" Man must read this forum. After my initial post about not being able to hear the names of the away squad this has improved immensely. At both the Southampton game and last nights Coventry game he could be clearly heard. Well done. Now just to get rid of that shite clapping video...
