"An Ale House Team" ........ Bill Shankly, 1968.

With the likes of Fisher, McGrath, O`neill, Paine and Williams in the team he was probably right.

Does anyone remember being able to pee all over the crushed Southampton fans through the railings on the way out of The Dell?

hutch Man Utd getting stuffed 6-3 and Alex Ferguson whingeing that the Man U players couldn`t pick out each other in their grey shirts against the crowd. Absolutely laughable.

IIRC, the grey shirt debacle wasn't the 6-3 game, it was 3-0 or 3-1.

Wasn't that the blue shirts? I thought the grey shirt thing was at Anfield?

Either way neither shirt was the cleverest.....

next they'll be wearing orange and blaming that for bad luck

Grey shirt - away to Southampton, 1995-96 season.

The 'amusing' thing is that that was their second to last away game of the season ( :| ). They'd worn it away to Villa on the opening day and lost 3-1 in the "win nothing with kids" game. No idea what other games they wore in - lost 6 away from home that season, including one at Liverpool as well.
