We've had it before, and at the Madstad too. With so much feeling behind the death of this young lad, one idiot could cause much trouble, and no one, least of all the boys family, need to see that.

Saints fans, if you read this, just be respectful for one minute. I'm sure you will.

Trust (hope) that it it is because the family feel it is the most appropriate way, rather than because of any fears that they, or the Club, may have had in managing the minute's silence.

I'm sure that Stewart must have sat at the Mad Stad and dreamt of the day when his name rang out around the stadium. A dream no doubt shared by his proud family.

Maybe as the applause draws to an end we could fulfil that dream? Or would chants of 'Stewart McEwan' be out of place?

jees just reading the book of condolence has sent me tearyeyed. didn't know the guy, but sounds like a guy who is the complete opposite to the broken britian we here all too frequently about today.

I think a minute of applause is entirely appropriate - if things had been different, we may have been clapping him as our No. 1 goalie one day- and his family will now never get the chance to hear the fans applauding him, so I think it's right and fitting that the poor little lad gets his applause on Saturday. I wish I could be there.

A few years ago RFC had a similar tragedy with a young player dying. A few idiots in the away end booed the minutes silence the club observed then. I think it might have been Wigan...

Likewise. I think it's going to be one of those 'choked up' moments. My heart was already aching for his family. Yesterday the tragedy came even closer to home when I learnt that one of Stewart's cousins is a close friend of my daughter. She has asked my daughter to think of her on Saturday and give Stewart an extra bit of applause on her behalf. Both girls are a very similar age to Stewart and my daughter is a keeper too, so I think it's going to be a very emotional time.

Never knew the lad, but all the reports I've read show him to be, as someone else said, the complete antithesis of 'broken youth' that is supposed to be taking over Britain.

It was good to see a minutes applause at Prospect Park all-weather pitches this evening, where i believe Stewart did some of his goalkeeping training (As it was a goalkeeping coach who initiated this). It was well observed by all. Its one of those moments where it really hits home what happened, especially when you're trying to explain to all the youngsters what happened and why we're clapping. I'm sure the applause on saturday will be just as emotional, probably more so.
