Rams lead the chase for Irish International

By Rams Mad Editor Friday, 31st October 2008

Interest in league of Ireland premiership midfielder from the Rams and several other clubs

Derby County are said to be looking at bringing disillusioned St Patricks Athletic midfielder Keith Fahey to Pride Park.
Keith Fahey player of the month for March in the Irish Premier League
Fahey, a 25 year old from Dublin moved to the Irish league when failing to get a contract whilst a youngster at Arsenal and Aston Villa. Keith is rumoured to be unhappy after failing to win any medals whilst with St Patricks Athletic and is looking to progress his career, although as the photograph shows Fahey did win the player of the month award for March 2008.

Derby face a tough task to land Fahey, as several other top class clubs are also looking. Sunderland and West Ham in the Premiership may be tempting for Fahey and the Rams also face competition from Championship rivals Reading for the signature.

LOL @ other top class clubs.

Do they honestly believe that they are a 'top class' club?

25 years old, ex Arsenal youth and ended up in Ireland. Says it all.
The Conference would have been a better step, and if he was any good, League 2 would surely have looked at him.
No thanks.

If Football Manager has taught me anything - and it has - then League 2 clubs are prevented from scouting foreign countries by the financial constraints.

No you donut, I meant when he left Arsenal. Had he been anything worth having he wouldn't have ended up in Ireland.

Maybe, when he didn't make it at Arsenal he decided to go back to Ireland and play there rather than play for a lower league club here.

Maybe he did because he wasn't that good and no one even at any decent level wanted him.

Which begs the question as to why two Premiership clubs and two decent Championship clubs are now being linked....

Presumably all four don't have enough useless players on their books and are looking to up their quota ?

That doesn't beg a question. It's called having an agent.

well i can see theres some absolute goons here anyway.

keith fahey has more talent than kevin doyle, steven hunt, noel hunt, and everyone else on your team combined. problem with him is tho he has a bad mindset and might not be physical enough for championship.

idiots here will not have watched him but he bossed the midfield in all Pat's matches in europe this season againsts elfsborg of sweden and hertha berlin of germany. it had been suggested hertha would make a move for him but i dont know what came of that.

oh and please bohs and pats would kill grimbsy easy, they would probably be shamrock rovers/sligo rovers level.

some other guy kept banging on about this Fahey person whilst the Mooney transfer was going through.

I think they have just put our name there as we fit the bill of being club most likely to buy an Irish player

Keith Fahey in that Reading team is a match made in heaven!!! you sign him and you'd be the most beutiful team on the eye. Very unique style player, probably work better in a 3 man midfield.

He is a class passer of the ball and can hit a great shot

BTW the keeper in goal is proper quality, not some 5 foot 4 irish loi midget keeper.excellent signing for most teams.
