Dirk Gently
Deathy ..... I'd like to see the air vents, or the mesh as it may be called, replaced with something solid that can help keep the noise in.

Is that more important than having a decent pitch to play on? Because the airflow through those spaces is vital for the pitch - not so much grass growth but keeping it free of diseases.

Airflow is just as important as light for a healthy pitch.

Perhaps the club could investigate some sort of roller shutters so that the gap at the back could be closed during matches. No idea if it would help the atmosphere but it would certainly keep the cold wind and rain off the backs of those at the top of the stands.

Dirk, explain how Southampton's ground maintains a good pitch when the back of their stands are solid (or seem to be from what I saw today on SSN)?

I understand the idea of the air coming through and circulating, yet there are many grounds elsewhere that maintain a good football pitch without such an aid.

would keep the wind out on cold days as well.

as for the clapping. It is utter crap. Iv seen sum shite videos in my time, and its up there with the worst.I think they should play the old video, but go into powerpoint first and delete the "WE WILL NOT BE NEXT" part, and it would be fine.

I liked the "Pick a moment" video from last year. That was hairs on the back of your neck at its best.

URZZZZZZZZ Personally, I am so embarassed by our home support that I've given up on it. I've decided to go to away matches for the atmosphere and sense of occasion, and go to home matches to see us win. Nothing more, nothing less.

yeah. what he said.

Please can we have Lord of the Rings - Requiem for a Dream The Two Towers, back.

I know we were slight embarrased about the we will won't be next, but it really stirred us as a video. Clapping just doesn't work as well.

Bring back Requiem for the soton game. Perfect as its a sell out and gets everyone up for the game. If we all post this on back the boys i am sure they will bow down with pier pressure!

They have clear plastic corrogated sheets all around the top but then look how the team perform!

Squashing them under a seaside structure appears a slightly extreme measure, given we are only arguing about a video!

Exactly. Southampton get away with that by putting shit on it every week to help the growth. We don't want to do that.

Last Tuesday they messed it up and had Ashes playing while the video was showing instead of the clapping. While I welcomed Ashes back, it just looked stupid with the montage not being remotely connected in time. Wonder if they did it on purpose to say "look, people joined in the clapping but not Ashes. Clapping is great".

Why cant they cover them up just for a couple of hours during matches ? Or have shutters..

I mentioned the gap at the back once to someone at the club. Not least because it's freezing.

The answer seemed to be that if they blocked it off the roof could get blown down.

As for the pre-match video, they try to time it to end when the players walk out - which is pretty much impossible. And stupid. So it is always a pregnant pause or it gets cut short. And I agree it's rubbish anyway.

But it makes last year's look good.
