Re: Kits & Shorey - Worst Premier League summer transfers?

by bishbosh92 » 05 Dec 2008 10:21

tom_t69 I think shorey and kitson will both be good buys in the end. Shorey will be fine once he settles down as he is class player and kitson was unlucky because he was starting to settle down then got injured. Don't know how keane is number 1, he has been playing well just not finished his chances. Surely gomes has got to be number 1?
Haha i have to agree with that how psv put up with that liability in goal ill never no.

I have heard from a source at Villa Park the O'Niel just blanks Shorey when he walkes past him and tries to avoid him

From Despair To Where? The biggest flaw in the Kitson transfer is him signing for the one Premiership team guaranteed to not play to his strengths.

According to Stoke fans that was not the intention. Pulis was actively trying to bring in wingers to the club and therefore change the way they played but the deals never materialised (Pennant and Ledley were two of them). Unfortunately for Stoke Kitson arrived first and without those wingers he was never going to work.

Yep I heard the same thing from a Stoke friend of mine yesterday.

Ledley is quality - no surprise he waited for a bigger club to come in for him. Not sure about Pennant but those two would have provided some great crosses for Kits.

Don't you mean "waiting" - he is still at Cardiff.

I think I can see Shorey being a Good-bye for Villa in the end. Martin O'Neill already prefers playing Young there to Shorey and when Bouma comes back he'll be right down the pecking order.

Not sure I beleive what has been said about O'Neil blanking him, if it was Ferguson I'd believe it but O'Neil seems more stable. Think he'll be sold at the end of the season though.

Yep. A player I would like to sign if we went up.

Good passer, skilful, good going forward, but Shorey always was lacking defensively and was often caught out of position and relied too much on his left foot.

Shorey is a defender that cannot tackle. Says a lot.

When Shorey was at Reading:

"Best left back in England"

At Villa

"Full back that can't tackle."

ROFLeading fans.

I think at times during our first season in the Premier League he arguably was the best left back in England, and if McClown had played him againt Switzerland at home, thus avoiding Cashely Cole getting booked and suspended, or Russia away instead of JoLOLeon LOLescott then England would have qualified for the Euro finals (although I accept that this is a side argument).

Having said all of that it was time for him to move on for his own good and Reading got a good price for him.

Shorey wants out after only 5 months. Can't get in the villa team and no where near a England call up.

The significance of these 2 related ex-players is that current players who may be hoping to move next month should take note; the team of 2005-07 was greater than the individuals that made up that team - so leaving Reading may not be a clever career move.

He just doesn't fit in that side. He's not big, he's not quick. Seems the opposite of what Villa are all about.

Still a Premiership quality left back, will do a job for someone.

It's laughable (all the way to the bank) the money we got for Kits/Shorey/Sonko

LOL @ The Mirror's "Football Spy". All he's done is regurgitate what I said on here on the 5th December and put a bit more spin on it.

Fans Forums must be a rich hunting ground for these "journalists"..

West Brom have apparently put in a loan request for Kitson with a view to a permanent move if they stay up. REJECTED.

Slightly off-topic - but in anorak mode I went 'non-league' today and amidst the frozen pitches managed to see a great (-ish) game @ Arlesey Town.

They are sponsored by 'Kits' own fashion clothing firm Chateau Roux.

Fair play to the chap for remembering his roots. His names plastered in glowing terms all over their web site too.

Also nice to see one of his No.12 Royals signed shirts on proud display in their bar.

my g/f's, sisters b/f works with Kitson on this brand. (Chatuex Roux) He says that Kitson has no idea about running a clothes shop. He also says that Kitson, hates it at Stoke and wishes he had never left Reading in the first place.
He asked Kit's if he would move back to Reading, if given the chance, and Kits said yes.
Reliable source, but cant see it happening, I would love to see him back though.

We'll get him on a free next season in the Prem. :)

Shorey wanted by Redknapp apparently, which is why they'll let Bale go.
