bottom left hand corner Southbank Old Boy Royal Rother I am a fan but I thought there were some weaknesses today. 2 or 3 times he stayed on his line when I thought he could have come.
And when Cisse was dispossessed leading to their goal Federici was on the edge of the area so back-peddled rapidly but ended up nowhere near central thus giving Phillips an obvious target.
Having said that his kicking is fantastic. Early days but I don't think I've ever seen another 'keeper with better distribution. That is going to be an very decent weapon in these next few weeks.
He was in no mans land for Bents chance towards the end too
He looks like a keeper who is going to stick to his line and pull off saves as opposed to dominate his area, but it was good to see him claim a few dangerous crosses which he failed to do against Norwich
Very harsh after a brilliant performance from everyone.
Problem with reading fans is they always want more.
Read the rest of what I've said, I said he did well and was much improved on previous performances
I don't expect the world of him, just pointing out an area where he was weak as well as praising his improved performance in other elements of his game
Whore Jackie It's going to be an interesting conundrum for Coppell over the next few weeks. On the one hand there's the solid yet passive, reliable shot-stopping Hahnemann. On the other, the wonderful attacking distribution, yet somewhat suspect positioning with Federici.
Personally, I'd go for Fed, his accuracy of kicking, negates our lack of a classic target hold-up striker, keeps the tempo of our play high and really adds a lethal attacking dimension. The only disappointment with Fed so far, is his lack of dominance and control over the area. It's always been Hahnemann's weakness, kind of ironic that both an American and Aussie should be so withdrawn.
I'd rather we pick the keeper that is going to be most likely to keep a clean sheet or make the saves to give us the best chance of conceeding less goals than go for a lesser keeper to help cover for a lack of ability to win the ball upfront from a punt upfield!
