A FED

by higher » 26 Dec 2008 17:02

We love you!!!!!

90(+3) mins - Kitchen sink stuff now. Kebe drills it through a crowded box and wide. It's a corner though and Federici is up for it. The corner is swung in from the right and Federici nods it goalwards, but it hits McNaughton on the line. The ball is loose and Federici stabs it high into the net. Madejski Stadium goes wild!!

FULL TIME - The final whistle sounds and Federici drops to his knees. What drama. The Aussie goalkeeper has saved Reading's unbeaten run with an injury time leveller. And it keeps the Royals in the top two!

Fed's goal made the BBC Live - Premier League commentary:

1656: Oh my. Reading have just equalised in the Championship at home to Cardiff thanks to a goal from their keeper Adam Federici. Oh my.

Didn't know they reoprted Championship games in the Prem commentary, but I suppose this is quite unusual enough, eh?

F*cking hell. I''ve spent the last two days in bed with a fever and felt well enough to go today but still have really bad asthma. I said I wouldnt go to mad if we scored today, but a 96th minute equaliser from the goalkeeper, f*cking happy days. I now cant breathe, but its worth it, 8)

I've been there for both his goals. Bromley was better, mind.

Fair play to him, right place right time and it's created a bit of history.

equally important was the stop at 1-0 down where he's done well to make it stay 1-0, then all hell breaks loose at the other end!

He still hesitates a bit too much for me at the mo, he doesn't seem to come off his line quick enough, when he does his handling seems sound so it's surprising he does that. That's the reason he got hurt. The first touch was terrible and if Federici had instantly gone for it, Chopra wouldn't have even bothered sliding, because he hesitated a bit it gave Chopra just that sniff to go for it. It was still a shocking challenge and he embarassed himself by staying down when there was clearly nothing wrong with him.

Federici to be fair to him has done well enough since he's been in, it's not been overly busy for him but he's not done anything wrong and that ending today was just incredible!!

Stattos:

Is he the first keeper to score a competitive goal at the Madejski Stadium?

Let's be honest, if that had been USA, he would have sliced it off for a throw.

Now he's settled in he's taking the p1ss. 8) Yes, his distribution is slightly off, at on point kicking the ball out when a slightly calmer approach would have opened up cardiffs defense but this is minor. He's growing with each game.
