Hunt did this towards the last transfer window. I just think he wants to be anywhere but Reading at the mo - everything was half-hearted...even his little squable yesterday.

If Hunt concenrated on being a hard working member of a hard working team, he'd be a vauablemember. However, his approach recently smacks of someone who thinks he's too good for this level and has stopped doing the basics, instead constantly attempting the sensational.

Yesterday he had a cross land to him on the corner of the six yard box, he had time to control and shot he could have put it back across the goalmouth, instead he blazed a volley off for a throw. If he can't get his head right he should go, if he can i'd like him to stay.

As with any transfer, I think clubs take a longer term view on what they've seen player x do in the past and remember the highlights and the good form and back their ability to get that player to play to those standards on a more consistent basis.

Obviously there are limits to the amount managers will take that gamble, but I think a lot of it comes down to their ego's.

Also, £5m isn't that much to pay for a player that has been, in many people's eyes, effective in the Premiership.

The only way he's going to stay is by nobody offering the £5m.

Personally, if I were Coppell and the board and someone offered £4.5, maybe even £4m I'd take it as I totally agree with Schards about the way Hunt has been playing recently. He seems to have suddenly become quite the big time charlie and I'd wonder if that can be re-addressed, especially by Coppell who doesn't seem the type to confront the problem (as with Lita and Kitson he's just got rid).

From the very first match he played in, I likened him to Andy Hughes, a lot of running around, but not much end product. He's like a terrier snapping at the oppo's ankles, but there are far far better players out there, without an enormous ego like he has, and, frankly, if someone else paid £5 million for him they'd be mad! Mind you, we got half a million for Hughesy, so anything is possible.

An emphatic yes from me. I'm tired of people saying that he 'provided the cross for the goal' etc. He's a sodding winger who should be able to do that.

If we can still get some half-decent money for him, I say get rid.

I'm not really a big fan of Hunts but I should think he is quite a factor off the pitch in setting the right atmosphere in the squad. On the pitch I don't think his value is as high as people make out. His high tempo approach is great, and he can sometimes show real touches of class but too often his technique lets him down.

People point to his number of assists, but as someone else said, he and Kebe are wingers and in our system they should share the lion share of our assists (and don't forget we've got one of the top forwards in the division to convert a high percentage of the chances they've created). Add in the fact that Hunt takes nearly all our set pieces and it's no wonder he's got a lot of assists this season.

The problem with Stephen Hunt is that some games he is fantastic and some games he is truly awful. There does not seem to be much in between.

I think back to say the Swansea game when he was truly amazing. He controlled the game - was everywhere and was probably the main reason we thumped them 4-0. Sadly in many games since he has run around like a headless chicken and achieved very little.

What you do get with him is 100% effort each week - but there is this great inconsistency and I think this is what annoys the fans.

But he has provided a large number of assists this season and several valuable goals and I fear that if he does go that many on here will be pining for him within a matter of weeks - just like with Sidwell.

Overall I hope he stays but if we get £5M and he wants to go then so be it.

Anyone who thinks we would be in the position we are in the table without Hunt is a mental.

The similarities with Andy Hughes are plainly laughable.

Hunts goals and assists far outway Hughes' meagre efforts.

He's had a bad day at the office. Despite that he still floated the ball in for the equaliser. Get over it people.

I think he's always been like that though. Even in his first season he was trying tricks and flicks although usually as a late sub with the game already won.

I think people are making too much play on this "wantaway" stuff really. He's always tried things which are probably beyond him, his end product has always been a bit hit and miss but he has always put 100% effort in, which from what i can see is still the case now.

Makes you realise just how good Sidwell's attitude was.

Personally, I really like him and agree he makes us a better team when he is playing but if his head is elsewhere, then he should follow it.
