I shall post a heart-felt RIP in this thread too.

Many people who think they did not know Mr Tranter will have seen him at STAR meetings. He was President of STAR and was usually at Fans' Forums. HIs interest in the welfare of the club has never wavered and we can all revere his memory for what he has done. Many supportes will want some form of monument to him for all that he did for the club.

Roy even had the players working for his cleaning contracting company during the summer months of the division 4 days! A man who loved RFC as if it was his own child and in his own way as important to the survival of our club as Mr Mad. I am glad to have met you during the fight against Maxwell Roy and your tireless work and subsequent important place in RFC annals will be remembered. RIP.

Roy was a lovely fella, and as Hugo stated, had many many stories about the club, some cracking ones about some players, i remember him working with my dad (a leading councillor in Reading at the time) plotting Maxwells downfall, he was adamant that the merger wouldn't happen and so it didn't, memories of my pa being on Newsnight with Maxwell, meetings at Roger Smees house (Lenny Henrys house in Hyde End Lane), and listening in to Roy making calls to Maxwell and his solicitors/lawyers, someone that the club should remember and the minutes silence should be a minutes applause, so you guys get to thank him for the club you have today, obviously Sir John is a pivotal point, but without Roy, there would be no club.

A minutes silence on Friday would be totally inapproriate in my view for someone who had such an important influence on the history of RFC. Instead, we should instigate a minutes applause to recognise and celebrate the achievements of this true Reading legend without whom we may not have a club today.

RIP Roy, I'll always remember your positivity and optimism in the face of Maxwell's near death knell!
