Victor Meldrew
Old Biscuitman Not telling, but it was long before you lot. I'll give you a clue - at the time Ronnie Blackman was learning his trade in the reserves.

Thanks for taking my place as the oldest.

I think there is one on here who beats us both, but I've forgotten his label for now.

1982Royal Not sure of the date, but my dad took me to watch the cup game against Man City. Cant even remember the score but I do remember Steve Lomas scoring and Niall Quinn scoring a looping header.

Correct me if I'm wrong because it was so long ago, but the game in question, was that the replay to the 1-1 at Maine Road which I also went to and remembering how scary Moss Side was...

Not a replay but the second leg - the latter was my first game.

And Moss Side scary? LOL! You should try having a wander in Longsight or Ordsell late at night...

Reading 0-1 Wolves, May 2003. Playoff Semi final 2nd leg. Before the game a man was playing "were not scared of the big bad wolf" on a violin.

At home to Sunderland in the FA Cup can't remember if 87 or 88, Tilehurst End, couldn't get into Southbank because of membership system at time.

First pro match, Aberdeen v Rangers Aug 1978, Beach End Boys! :P

October 1964, my dad and grandad took me along to Elm Park. We were playing Peterborough who had only been in the league for a couple of seasons. It was freezing cold and we lost 2-1. Dougie Webb, dad of Neil scoring for us.
Compared with some posters on this thread, I must be quite a young 'un.

You must be about my age. Are you originally from Wantage? In 1964 there weren't many of us Reading fans in Wantage.

25 November 1989

Reading 1 Bristol City 1.

I haven't a clue who scored for Bristol City, but Super Trev scored for Reading, although I bizarrely remembered it until recently as being a Steve Moran penalty. Memory fades with age...

Went with a friend from school, September 1978 against Doncaster we won 3-0 Kearns 2, Bowman. Maurice Evens picked up Bells manager of the month. A warm sunny afternoon it was love at first sight and we went on to win the league that season.

With big old Henderson up front getting 2

I can remember the date of one of my early Reading games in the 1955/56 season but not who it was against. Can any body supply me with a link where you can look up these early results for various results. I have tried without success and find it very frustrating.

I get my stuff from Heaven on Earth by Alan Sedunary published in 2001.
STAR would probably be able to put you in touch with him (I see him at most home games).
If you do have a specific query feel free to send me a pm.

Remarkable how many different Bury games are mentioned here. Last time we had this thread I figured out mine was Bury too: 0-0 in 1972.
