G Force 1871 First ever game was on Boxing day when I went with my brother and dad. Dullest game of football ever.

26th December 1994 (League)
READING 0 LUTON TOWN 0
Att: 11,623

Started going poperly a couple of years later with my first game being much more eventful.

21 September 1996 (League)
READING 1 Crystal Palace 6 (yes six!) (Morley pen)
Att: 9,675

You went to that game and you're still here? You deserve a medal. My brother and I got wasted for that match but it still didn't make it any better! For some reason we decided to celebrate Christmas by sitting in the 'posh' seats opposite the Southbank. He was going to buy a replica shirt from the club 'shop' but they only had XXL. He's only a L but he bought one anyway and looked ridiculous. Oh and we had 'Irish coffee' in flasks, with not a lot of coffee.

My first match was in 1983. Reading v Hereford in an FA cup round. We won 2-0 with Senior and Horrix scoring.

I supported Liverpool from about 5 until I was 10 because my older cousin (who lived in North Devon) did. I then realised I didn't give a flying fvck about Liverpool and became completely and utterly disillusioned with the sport, focussing on far more important things like the onset of grunge and skateboarding.

Fast forward 8 years and I was at uni with a good few mates from Gloucestershire who were Cheltenham Town mad... I then realised there was more to football than people living in the ar$e-end of nowhere supporting teams that had nothing to do with them. I decided to see how my local team were doing and to my surprise, they were in the play-offs to earn the right to play in the Premier League. I saw both legs of Reading vs Wolves on TV and decided it was time to watch them properly...

So... First ever game, Reading vs Southampton pre-season friendly... First league game, Reading vs Nottingham Forest 3-0 victory, and it's been all good since then!

Yes, I'm a late starter

Biggest regret is never having seen us play at Elm Park. Such a massive piece of history I'll never know

My first game was 15th April 2003, Reading 5-1 Preston. Forster (3), and Henderson scored, but can anyone help me with who the other scorer for us was? I can't remember for the life of me.

My second game was 17th April 2004, a 1-1 home draw with Crewe. Kitson scored for us.

Then I had a bit of a break; didn't go to another match until the first day of this season at Nottingham Forest!

My first game was so long ago that I don't remember it. But I do remember going to watch a cup match at Elm Park against Burnley (I think they were in Div 1 - now Premier div - then). It was the first game I attended without my Dad!! We drew 1 - 1 but lost the replay. It must have been 1965/66 and I remember nothing about the game except that I was proud of our achievement!

Reading 5 Brentford 0. FAC 2 Dec 1965

Stood under the clock, it wasn't called the South Bank in those days. Met up with my mate from school who used to live in Norfolk Road and even turned up for games in his slippers from time to time.

Terminal Boardom
Victor Meldrew
Arch The day my niece got married we lost 7-5 at Doncaster.

I was there - not the wedding, the 7-5. It was 5-3 to Donny after 35 minutes

I was there as well rather like the the Pompey game all 12 goals were rubbish. Dixon scored 4 and was interviewed on radio 2 sports report after the game. The first time I had ever heard a Reading player on national radio!

Broxroyal
Wantage Royal October 1964, my dad and grandad took me along to Elm Park. We were playing Peterborough who had only been in the league for a couple of seasons. It was freezing cold and we lost 2-1. Dougie Webb, dad of Neil scoring for us.
Compared with some posters on this thread, I must be quite a young 'un.

You must be about my age. Are you originally from Wantage? In 1964 there weren't many of us Reading fans in Wantage.

I lived in Reading then, only moved to Wantage in 1985. Actually live in Longcot near Shrivenham now. Still not many Royals in Wantage though.

Reading 3-2 Preston 2003/4 season

Remember this game well. My youth team organised a trip to this game so there were loads of us. Forster scored a header in the last minute to win it. EPIC!

30th August 1968 Reading V Hartlepool. Was not keen on going but my cousin already a supporter persuaded me. We won 7-0 with Peter Sylvester scoring 4 and I was hooked.

May 1983 with a 2-1 win against Oxford at The Manor Ground...I had been supporting the club for a decade by then but never lived local so this was my first game watching the Royals as I was studying at Oxford Poly at the time.
